What do you think of Tom Daschle for VP?
In thinking over the best people for the job one thing I think will be most important is the ability to work and get things done with Congress. Especially the Senate. I think Hillary could be excellent at this but I think Obama picking her makes him look weak and will mobilize the Republican base too much to work to defeat her. Also it just brings too much drama and well I don't need to bring up the other negatives they have been brought up enough already.

However, with Daschle you get someone who knows the workings of Congress as good as anyone. Also he will know what it will take to get the votes needed to bring in some of the legislation we will need to get passed. This is someone who I also wouldn't mind seeing as president and I am sure a number of people would agree this is someone who could handle the presidency in a crisis. Some of the other names being thrown around, especially some Governors, I think would just be too green to Washington. I think voters would think about them taking the reigns in an emergency and be doubtful they would want them to be president.

I think he is intellectually, politically and personality wise compatible with Obama. What do you guys think some of the pro's and con's with Daschle would be?

3. Not ANOTHER Senator!
The VP candidate should come from somewhere other than the senate.

4. Good guy, but married to a big time lobbyist and a bit wussy.
Obama needs a "vice principal" to bang heads so he can stay above it all. Daschle is not the kind to do that.

9. He was terrible ...
... as Majority Leader in 2001 and 2002.

He always had that "Please don't hit me" look and tone to his voice.

Sadly, he was one of the worst Dem enablers of Bush after 9/11.

I do think he is a nice, intelligent guy, just not a strong leader.

13. Obama needs someone to help him achieve his agenda
Gore, Hillary, Edwards, Pelosi, etc. would be working for their own agendas. You don't put a "superstar" on the ticket with you. It makes the top of the ticket look less great.

One of the reasons B*sh picked Cheney is because he would not be pursuing the Presidency. All of Cheney's connections with the rest of the Right Wing helped B*sh get his agenda through. That is what Obama do. Pick someone who will help him with his agenda.

17. Uh, the Tom Daschle that stood beside bush* in the Rose Garden after bush* signed the IRW?
THAT Tom Daschle?

Oh, I think NOT! Daschle is the archetype of the "Pink Tutu Democrat". He'd bring nothing to the ticket but big fat looserism.

Sorry, but it's an absolutely terrible idea.

27. Way too timid, couldn't even deliver his state to Obama; don't agree he matches up...
in the ways you've pointed out "intellectually, politically and personality wise", Daschle's wife lobbied for the airline industry that received mountains of bailout money. Yes, that was then this is now; but maybe she should have been lobbying to stop the war too
