I'm betting that this will be the ticket
Although I think Richardson is more talented than to be VP, it might balance out on the Hispanic vote as well as the Foreign Policy cred. By the time the election nears, most people who were for Hillary Clinton who were thinking McCain will realize what the danger of even four years of McCain could do.

As long as Richardson stays on message and doesn't stumble (let's give him a couple Mulligans - golf term), he could really kick some butt.

I've thought about Sibelius/Clinton/Webb/Clark and others, but the bucket fills pretty nicely with Richardson as VP.

5. Richardson thinks homosexuality is a choice
and referred to gays as "maricones".

They'll have bigger problems than moustaches to worry about.

7. Do you think that Richardson is a homophobe?
I know he has answered some questions clumsily on gay issues, but I doubt he's a homophobe.

You are correct that he does have to mend some fences.

8. I think the "choice" thing was a poor choice of words at the LOGO/HRC debate
And I don't watch that asshat Imus, so I can't speak to the context of the "maricones" thing. What I do know is that Richardson was recently awarded by the Equality Forum for his record on LGBT rights as governor of New Mexico.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - December 3, 2007

GOVERNOR BILL RICHARDSON TO RECEIVE
EQUALITY FORUM’S 2008 INTERNATIONAL ROLE MODEL AWARD

PHILADELPHIA, PA—Equality Forum, a national and international GLBT civil rights organization, announced that New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson will receive its 13th annual International Role Model Award, and that Wachovia Corporation will receive its 2008 International Business Leadership Award. The awards will be presented at the International Equality Dinner at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia on Saturday, May 3 during Equality Forum 2008.

As Governor of New Mexico Richardson has expanded anti-discrimination laws to include sexual orientation and gender identity; signed into law the state’s first hate crimes legislation for acts including those based on sexual orientation and gender identity; provided health insurance for domestic partnerships; signed the Billy Griego HIV and AIDS Act, which was designed to ensure that consumers are the focus of the funding and services provided in all the state's HIV and AIDS cases; and created the state’s HIV and AIDS Policy Commission charged with reviewing and making recommendations on state HIV and AIDS policies. His Presidential campaign platform includes the promise to end “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” and to name his Vice-President as the Chair of the HIV/AIDS Commission.

“Throughout his career in public service, Governor Richardson has been a strong supporter and friend of the GLBT community. Governor Richardson has repeatedly used his political standing to champion GLBT civil rights,” stated Malcolm Lazin, Executive Director of Equality Forum.

I'd say that makes up for saying something dumb once or twice.

6. I've been saying for months that this is the strongest ticket currently possible
Facial hair ain't going to change it one way or another. I think the beard looks good on Richardson, for what it's worth.

13. Strategic facial hair works on several levels
If you are balding, what a better way than you can actually grow hair on your head than devising strategic shaving techniques.

A handlebar moustache on a bald man brings the eye to the moustache, hence follicular strategy can bring opportunities that might me otherwise lost.

As for Richardson's facial hair, it is perhaps within the post-haste of other Southerners like Al Gore or LBJ.

It looks good on Bill. I say keep it.

14. in many ways it would appear perfect
I wonder if there has been any studies to see how well the famous or infamous "white working class voter" could accept a ticket with both an African-American and a Hispanic-American?

20. I doubt many people focus on the VP debates.
His resume is 1A. He has a warmth and sense of caring that would mirror Obama's and provide a stark choice to McInsane.

BTW, Welcome to the team.
