54% Of Americans "Think" Obama Is Going To Be The Next President
according to that NBC poll.

That's huge. That translates into a lot of GOP voters sitting home on election day if they think the election is a lost cause.

We push that number up to 60% - combined with the once-in-a-lifetime chance to make history that supporters of Obama will feel when they vote for him - it's going to add up into a huge lopsided election result.

It's funny that 7% of voters right now say they're not sure if they'll vote for him, but they think he'll win. That will become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Just keep hammering it into the minds of people that Obama is the next president.

1. Good point. We have to start talking with confidence
and get out of the helpless dog syndrome. We have a winner!

2. But does that help or hurt?
If people think its a given, won't that hurt GOTV?

I was canvassing for Obama in our primary and heard that from a few people. They said they went, but if there was a line, they would have left because "Hillary will win". Obama won our county.

4. in a normal election with an average candidate, yes
but due to the historic nature of Obama's candidacy, and what it represents, I think enough people will be motivated to get out the vote for him. Blacks, hispanics, blue state/red state democrats. Basically everyone who likes the guy = will be going out to the polling place to make history and say they voted for him.

The talking tough is to depress Republican turnout, and under normal circumstances that might effect our side too - but not with Obama.

6. I hope you are right. I took vacation on our primary day to volunteer
and am planning to take the day before the election as well as the day of.

I hope we see as much excitement and traffic as we did in April!

12. I think this year. People are looking foward to piling on the Republicans.
Most any other election I think it may have that effect, but I think this year, everyone wants a chance to kick the Republicans where it hurts. Won't matter this year how many people are ahead of you in line.

18. From your lips!!
We simply can't afford to get complacent about this.

I have no idea what the campaign will ask from us, but I am there.

I am one of the assholes who put * into office in 2000, and I have much to make up for.

3. The higher that percentage, the more GOPers will say "fuck it" on election day.
Let's get those numbers up and make sure that the "why bother" Republicans sit on their asses in November.

The LAST thing the Democrats need is a VP choice that "energizes" the morans.

7. let's hear a great platform come forth, a confident well spoken candidate
and no more flubs in personnel...It is looking like he doesn't know the people around him and that will not, can not work.

11. great platform, yes but expecting no more flubs is just unreasonable.
you cannot control what people do and even though there will be vetting not everything is always picked up.

9. Throwing Ron Paul and that other wrinkled old asshole Bob Barr in the mix
and the landslide for Obama could be of historic proportions.

13. This number just shows that there's very little confidence on the Republican side
about their chances. Many probably think Bush has f*cked them for this election cycle (which is true).
