You know how I can tell the General Election had begun? |
|
Edited on Wed Jun-11-08 06:34 PM by senseandsensibility
The corporate media has begun spinning like crazy for McCain. MSNBC misuses the information in its own poll to tell viewers that Obama has a serious problem with women voters and to ask how he can solve it. Of course they are very concerned about this problem.
Only one problem... their poll shows the opposite. Obama is ahead among all women and even among white women, and of course among all voters.
These facts are ignored to tease out one result about suburban white women for hours. Whole shows are being devoted to that result.
Meanwhile, at the end of these "discussions" the viewer does not know that MCcain is behind among all voters, all women, and all white women.
And unless we scream bloody murder about this, it will continue until November, my friends.

1. Yes, I noticed that today, too, despite quite a few stories to the contrary. |
|
Sigh. It's going to be tough to listen to this spin for 5 months.

3. He's doing much better than Kerry did among white women |
|
So I don't see what the problem is. One of the main reasons Kerry lost was that he barely won women and lost white women by 11 points. Which is why I found it strange when Clinton supporters complained during the primary that women were the most loyal Democratic voters and were being thrown under the bus. If you are going to make demands based on your demographic group's loyalty to the party, you might want to pick a demographic group that's actually been loyal.

All of which just go to show how incredibly biased the corporate media's slant on this situation is. IMHO they are trying to help McCain, and they may succeed. Of course for several years now they have spun for *, so this is no surprise at all.

4. They're not *really* shilling for McCain, they just want an excuse to yammer. |
|
Spinning everything as tight, inside baseball, demographics, this and that, gives them an excuse to bring on their experts, and try and keep people hooked, burning up airtime and selling ads.

6. Blow out Elections don't sell coverage |
|
If Obama was winning 75-25 they'd still find someway to sell Obama is in trouble just to try to increase ratings.
