VIDEO-Jon Stewart ---- McCain's 'c**t' comment is now out there
Edited on Thu Jun-12-08 08:34 AM by underpants
I'm not really sure if I agree with Stewart "going here" seems a bit slimy to me BUT now all of his audience (and everyone THEY KNOW) will now know about McCain's comment to his own wife.

Considering where rightwingers are taking this. This is fair game and
at least accurate.

1. It is a PRESIDENTIAL election against the REICH WING
Do you think for one second that the McCain camp and their minions would not be using this against Obama if the shoe was on the other foot?

7. I understand that but I was just surprised that Stewart did this
I see why-he is clearly fed up with the whole process- but it was just surprising

2. Applebee's? That's where the commoners eat?
That place always seemed like a ripoff to me.

6. Colbert (VIDEO)mentioned Brooks comment the night before and I froze the TiVo
turned to my wife and said "Applebee's doesn't have a salad bar. Ruby Ruesdays does" she agreed even though I don't know the last time (not this century) that I have been in an Applebees (not for any reason really-we have gone to Ruby Tuesdays BECAUSE OF the salad bar)

David Brooks-man of the people

Here is Colbert's bit on it-actually it is the full episode.

9. OOoh
I had never thought of that

Say what they will around here Ruby Tuesdays is pretty good at least it is the best salad bar for a chain restaurant like that. I have no idea where they get their food from though.

3. I was surprised, too
I think that's the first time I've ever seen Jon be a dirt spreader, but I can't say I feel too badly about it. It's too important this year for a democrat to win.

4. Last weekend, a friend and I were out to dinner with another couple...
Edited on Thu Jun-12-08 08:47 AM by Hepburn
...and we were talking about politics. I said something about this comment by McCain, and the other lady at the table? Her jaw hit the table. She is not someone who is up-tight and IMO if this shocked her, it is gonna hit the typical RW in the gut. My friend ~~ a guy in his mid 60s ~~ was shocked about this, too, and he is NO prude, but he is very much the gentleman. The other lady at dinner with me is late 50s as is her husband. He had already heard about this and was disgusted that any man would treat his wife like this ~~ whether in public or in private.

IMO, this needs to get out. After seeing the reactions of three people I have known for years...this C-word statement seems to have a real impact ~~ especially with the older crowd of which I am now a full-fledged member!

JMHO

25. Sorry it took a bit to get back to you with this reply...
...the husband has pretty much always been a liberal Dem...the wife if a bit more conservative and specifically, she is not crazy about Obama whereas husband has been in the Obama camp. He was an Edwards supporter and went Obama when Edwards dropped out. Wife was kind of considering McCain...but after I told her about his use of the c-word to his wife Cindy, she was really turned off by him. My feeling is that she may not vote for Obama, but she sure as heck is not voting for McCain now.

11. There is a well known concern among Republican Senators about
trusting this guys temper - they know something. Ever notice how many Republican Senators are not doing surrogate service for this guy?. Its not the language its the temper. This guy could launch a surgical air strike because he is having a bad day.

12. Jon realizes this is a life or death election. Good for him!
This needs to go viral.

Let the Republicans defend this. Let those women who would consider voting for McCain justify this man referring to his own wife in such a way.

16. Yeah, I was kind of shocked that he went there.
It just seemed like such an un-Stewart thing to do. I understand why he went there though, and in all honesty, I don't have a problem with it. I don't like slime, but this election is too important. And foxnews and MSM are going to do their best to destroy Obama with slime. So I have no problem with the skit. Plus, it was pretty funny. The motto on the green screen was hilarious.:)

17. If Obama called his wife a "c@#$" and a trollop, according to journalist witnesses, you
don't think his political career would be pretty much over? I do. Fair game.
