To the Editor:
Senator McCain's comment that having a withdrawl date from Iraq "isn't important" as long as casualties can be reduced ("Democrats Criticize McCain on Strategy in Iraq", June 12), ignores several critical questions. For example: - Is it important to the families of the troops being constantly redeployed into the Iraq theater, particulary the Reserve and National Guard members whose household earning levels have dropped precipitously at a time of economic hardship? - Is it important to the small businesses in America who've lost valuable employees for an unkown duration? - Is it important to our military leaders who've expressed concerns that our armed forces are at the "breaking point" and who feel our forces need time to rest, re-train and re-equip?
Perhaps, before making futher comments on this issue, he'll do some additional reseach on the full effects of our extended stay in Iraq. I hope he does.
It's important.

1. While he's at it, the research should look to see if McCain has a brain and a heart, |
|
both of which seem to be lacking, judging by his thoughtless, heartless remark.
