Edited on Thu Jun-12-08 01:23 PM by NotThisTime
If it's over Obama's website I sure and hell must have missed it

I'll make this ultra clear, a friend who is a trolling repuke has told me that because they make over 75K his taxes will go up and it's all over Obama's website...

I told him he was full of crap, and to point out where WHERE on Obama's website this was... he couldn't of course....

Unless I am so off the wall out of touch, this is simply NOT FREAKING TRUE.... But it doesn't stop the Repuke from saying it.... Seriously.... I don't know where he came up with this idea

Sorry for the confusion, it must be the anger coming out my ears

Linkage?

On edit: which is it, "it's all over his website", or "If it's over his website I sure and hell must have missed it".

You state both in your OP.

19. Aside from the Republican lying ... why would you want to make less money?

I love it when Republics come up with stupid shit like this. "I'd make more money, but I don't want to pay the extra taxes."

Unless the tax on the money you make over $75K is over 100%, that is some pretty stupid fucking thinking you got going there.

As I understand it he intends to push for raising the cap over 95k to 200k?

21. That is true, at some point for wealthy individuals, they would continue paying Medicare taxes
But I believe Obama was looking at exempting those that make between 107K (the current cap) and somewhere above 150 or so....

22. Just for the heck of it, ask any Republican who starts whining about
taxes if they prefer the last 8 years of charge and spend instead. The bills have to be paid and money doesn't come out of the sky on a flaming pie. Our current economy is proof of how well the "cut taxes for the rich and everything will boom" theory works. Stuff trickles down, but it isn't money.

I almost wish I'd stayed in touch with the older "wiser" coworker of mine who tried to tell me a couple of years ago that the Bush Economy was working great because we had so many new homeowners. I explained the balloon payments etc, but he wouldn't hear it.

Farkin moron, how's it look now moron?

26. Along this line, is it not true that Obama wants to keep the Bush tax cuts in place for those under
the 90% threshold?

I can't believe how misinformed people like to be.... IMHO they ought to take Faux news off the freaking air.

27. I just watched Senator Obama at his town hall meeting in WI...
He said his plan would increase taxes on people making $250,000/year and over while giving tax credits to people below that amount. He also was explaining how he would pay for many if his initiatives but I was interrupted by a guy doing some repairs on my house and never did get the full gist of what Obama was saying - DARN! :-(

29. I Certainly Couldn't Find Anything
on his website except the $500/$1000 credit for working individuals or families.

It could be that that's his only proposal so far. If Obama does nothing, the Bush tax cuts will expire and the top rate (the most important one for revenue) will rise to the previous rate of 39.6%

30. I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't find what the repuke was claiming
They're just blinded by their leader, the Rush Limbaugh of the world....

How giving the tax credit to the top 10% REALLY benefits the treasury so much more than helping those at the bottom

Or

It's just not fair that someone supporting a family on 30 grand only pays X (say a grand) on their income, where the guy making 300 grand pays 50 grand (or whatever it is), that's just not fair they say....

Or

stuff of equal obsurdity.... it's just crazy...
