62. Government run healthcare saves money - Ins Co universal costs extra - Mass results below
the Massachusetts Connector is designed on The Heritage Foundation’s version of a voluntary “health insurance exchange".

http://www.mahealthconnector.org/portal/site/connector/

So far, more than 342,000 people are newly covered since the initiative began, probably about half of the state's uninsured - Of the total, 176,000 are getting government-subsidized insurance - far more than expected by the second year, which is driving up the cost. Another 55,000 are newly enrolled in Medicaid. Over the next three years, the Patrick administration has projected, Commonwealth Care will double in size and cost.

http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2008/03/26/healthcare_cost_increases_dominate_mass_budget_debate/

The Massachusetts plan might not have achieved universal coverage, but it has cost taxpayers a great deal of money. It was originally projected to cost $1.8 billion in 2008, but it is now expected to exceed those estimates by $150 million to $400 million. Over the next decade, projections suggest that RomneyCare will cost $2-$4 billion more than was budgeted.

18. I wonder why we have drugs Made in India here in the USA?
if they don't want the likes of "us" going to Canada (or Mexico, etc.) to find affordable health care, why the hell are they selling drugs here (at a tremendous mark-up I might add) from other countries, India being one I happen to have recently encountered?

37. Not only that, it is illegal for YOU to buy drugs over the internet that come from out of the....
country, but the American drug companies can sell you those out-of-country drugs (for much more than you can get them over the internet).

An elderly neighbor tried to buy one of her medications that wasn't covered by Medicare off of the internet. She didn't even know it was coming from out of the country. One of her Bunko ladies had used the service in the past and raved about it. Anyway, when my neighbor tried to buy the drugs from the internet company, she got a letter from HOMELAND SECURITY saying that they had intercepted her drugs, and that it was illegal to buy from out of the country.

Turns out that FedEx has allowed DHS to set up shop in their main office on the east coast, and have let agents bsically have a free hand in opening up packages that they "suspect" may be drugs from overseas.

40. I'd love to know how McCain's $58K a year was
calculated. My late father-in-law got polio while in the navy during WWII. His leg atrophied. He was honorably discharged and sent on his way with a piddly check of a few dollars a month. Not dissing McCain's POW experience, but I'd sure like to know why his disability is worth so much more.

Betcha his dad the Admiral had some input on McCain's $58k/year. Impossible to prove, of course.

Also, injuries and malnutrition suffered as a POW often manifest themselves later in life in the form of certain diseases/disabilities. . .or suddenly dropping dead from a heart attack or stroke.

he doesn't probably realize he is getting those disability checks from the VA either, along with his Social Security benefits as well as his other soon enough due pension from the Senate. All of these government programs feed this HYPOCRITE.

He doesn't have to worry about a silly little thing called HEALTH CARE.

65. McCain is making the grave mistake of telling the partial truth
about his agenda. He actually believes his own bullshit about what an aisle-crossing, bipartisan-loving centrist he is, and how his "moderate" ideas are really in line with the majority of Americans. Of course, the right wing NEVER win nationally if they tell the truth about their plans for the country; they always have to pretend to be kinder, gentler centrists. It's interesting that McCain is absolutely not playing that game at this point: I suspect it's not because he's a straight-shooter--he's clearly demonstrated that he'll say just about anything to win an election. I think what it means is that he's delusional.

at least something as good. What a typical entitled white male Republican response.

"If you don't like this, then go someplace else".

I had a Repuke boss once tell me and an office mate, when rents were rising sky high because of speculators in my town of Santa Monica and we were talking about rent control, that we should move somewhere in town more affordable like Inglewood. Nevermind that he was sitting pretty in his palace in Bel Air. I just retorted that if I became homeless I would pitch my tent in his front yard. Needless to say I didn't last six more months at that job and we did pass rent control.
