Obama needs to go to Canada tomorrow |
|
You want to sink McCain right now, Obama needs to accompany senior citizen americans as they go to Canada for the cheaper drugs, then make a big speech after he crosses back into the US. He needs to highlight this sad truth that people ARE going to Canada for better health care. That would be the end of McCain.

My son is living in Canada to be near his girl friend who he met while both of them where going to college in MN. He has health care coverage there as he is still in school and works in Canada. He waits no longer for health care in Canada than he did in the United States and any prescriptions he needs are much cheaper. So much for McCain's claims and the MSM spin...:grr:

Although waiting lists can sometimes be a problem, the situation is nowhere near as bad as what you can read in the American media. And you know what, considering the fact that there is no chance in hell that health problems will cause me to go bankrupt over here, I choose that.
In my personal experience, though anecdotal, the people who choose to go to the US for certain operations are usually very rich people who really don't mind the expense. The rest of us normal people like our health care system just fine.
Edited to addd: Of course you already know that, I just noticed you're Canadian.

There are some specialty procedures that you have to go on a waiting list for in order of your urgency of care, and sometimes the more wealthy decide it's worth their money to pay to have it done in the states to skip the line. The conservatives love to hunt those stories down and hype them as an excuse to keep demonizing universal healthcare with "OMG! Waiting Lists!" stories.
They tend to skip over the part where all those millions of Americans don't get care at all while they're complaining about the horrors of the people lining up to be treated up north.

It's illegal but they are not really enforcing it. Homeland Security is starting to enforce it again. I could see them broadcasting that Obama broke the law.

8. One of the best ideas I ever heard. |
|
If the media were gathered at the border as they returned, would our dear seniors then be busted for illegal trafficking? Hell, Obama wouldn't have to give a big ole speech...he could just help escort all the grandmas and great uncles onto the paddy wagon, turn and face the camera, and maybe say, "Oh, this isn't too important..."
I'm salivating at the thought. Thanks for this most pleasing fantasy, charlie and algernon!

This would just reinforce the Repug notion that Obama isn't loyal or patriotic, by making Canada look good and America look bad. Comparisons to Michael Moore would ensue.

I see now that it is illegal, so he couldn't do it anyway. The hardcore repubs are going to say anything is unpatriotic that even suggests america isn't the greatest thing all time, but regular mainstream americans would love it. To those that actually have to choose between medicine and food, Obama will be the greatest thing since sliced bread.
