Is a two-senator ticket a good one?
We all like to play the VP game but I don't think that having two senators is a good idea (OK, with exception of Webb who is a fresh one and who, if selected, would be because of his military background).

This will be the first year since 1960 that a sitting Senator will be the next President. There is a reason for that. The Senate is a legislative body, a debating body, while the White House is the Executive branch where, at some point, a debate has to come to a close and a decision has to be made.

Senators have long track record where, yes, they would on occasion change their opinions. This is why it is a debating body.

This is why McCain is looking at a governor and Obama should look at someone with executive experience, preferably in the military and/or foreign relations.

My first choice would be Wes Clark. LBJ was taller than JFK, too...

Richardson has an excellent resume but is a lousy campaigner.

1. No! Incumbency is too important.
Kathleen Sebelius, a Dem governor in a red state, and who has some national recognition, would be a good choice.

2. I thought Richardson improved markedly after joining Obama ...
Maybe part of his lousy campaigning was because he knew it
was futile with HRC still in the race. If his endorsement
speech is any indication, I think he definitely shows
promise as a campaigner, even if he's not quite there
yet.

3. I Used to Think So
but somehow I don't get the feeling this is the political weakness for Obama one would expect. I would rather get the right individual regardless of resume.

no. no it is not.
allows McCain to pull the "campaign against washington insiders" BS.

besides, the senate sucks. talk & talk & talk. their last major "accomplishment" was typical: not convicting Clinton during impeachment. they didn't DO something, they stopped something from being done.

i'd take a house rep. like Chris Dodd, but i prefer Wes Clark, who's "outside" government & is "not a politician".

9. No. As much as I supported Hillary I did not think that a "unity"
ticket would be a good one - regardless of who is the nominee.

Either one of them would have needed a running mate strong on national security and foreign affairs which Hillary, while having more experience, it was from the senate committee, not a field one.

Of course, Bush did not have any experience, either, but he ran when we were a nation at peace (more or less) with a budget surplus and an expanding economy.

10. If the person best qualified for the job is another senator, then so be it.
