The Media is trying to upend Obama's Bid for the White House |
|
When I heard Joe Scarborough and Mika taking Howard Dean to task on Obama's vetter while ignoring the fact that McCain has tons of lobbyist on his payroll I thought, wow... they are hilarious. They sounded hilarious when they did it. This particular vetter has since resigned.
Now, as if there aren't bigger stories in the news, (Impeaching Bush) we listen to MSNBC talking to Rice, Obama's national security adviser about MCCAIN'S many foreign policy gaffes and instead of raking McCain over the coals for getting his facts wrong for the last several months - he doesn't even know the difference between sunni and shia... they take her to task for presenting this as a gotcha moment.
This is dangerous. They make a non-starter a monumental event where Obama is concerned and barely question McCAin's blunders, lobbyist problems when these are huge. I laughed before but now I see what the media is doing. They are trying to tear Obama down.
Obama's baby momma. Terrorist fist jab. Scarlett Johansen emails. White working class problem... there is none whatsoever. White working men problem. Minimizing the bounce Obama got as the Dem nominee
Obama has been right on all of the issues. McCain has been clearly wrong on everything. But the media is giving McCAin a free ride. We have to thank many of the blogs for keeping this election honest.
I RE-ITERATE. LAUGH AT MAINSTREAM MEDIA. YOU TAKE THE MEDIA SERIOUSLY AT YOUR OWN PERIL. THEY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED. With that said, listen to them, set their records straight when you can and LAUGH YOUR ASS OFF AT ALL OF THE DUMB PUNDITS ON MSNBC, FOX, ABC, CBS. Why laugh? Because none of what they are doing will work. NOT THIS TIME!
And take heed. Keith Olbermann is one of only a few good journalists out there.

1. John Kerry never figured out how to overcome the press. |
|
I have to chuckle about this a little, because one or two months ago Obama supporters were on top of the World. Now it seems that he is a little more vulnerable and his supporters are showing some concern.
I have to smile a little because they were so sure that Hillary was the weaker candidate. Maybe she was, but Obama has a lot of work ahead of him. I wish him well! It won't be easy.

3. Hell, they're still spinning Wright on occasion, then Michelle, then bike riding, then.... |
|
then the birth certificate, then whatever they come up with for the day..... Every once in a while they take a few days off.
During the Repuke primaries McCain was treated like the greatest candidate of all time, I expect that treatment to continue.
I often wonder how obtuse the citizens of this country are after electing George Bush TWICE.... I guess my answer will be sealed in November....

tons of stuff they had ready & waiting to dump on us...about HER and BILL..
The "media" we have today is all about the "push-pull".. They HAVE to keep it in sports-mode.. It's a GAME to them..
One day they are "concerned" about something, and the next they are "concerned" about something else..
The ONE thing to take heart about is that the overall viewership is SMALL....and most people are too busy trying to pay their car payments, mortgages & buy gas to really pay much attention to what Mika or Joe has to say about anything..
MOST people will vote for one of TWO people:
1) The old white guy who was a POW 2) The young black guy who pays basketball & has a weird middle name

12. George Will cracked a joke, called the press John McCain's "base" last Oct. |
|
This was on ABC back when John McCain was not supposed to be the Republican nominee. I have the link in my latest thread about Anti-McCain strategy. George Will can be pretty sharp when he wants to. MSNBC has been openly stumping for McCain (with the exception of KO and a few of his regular guests) since last fall, because of their ties to the Pentagon and GE's multi billion dollar nuclear power plant industry which McCain supports. Guys like Chris Matthews, Tim Russert, Tom Brokaw, David Gregory,Nora O'Donnell---the corporate whores at NBC who don't really have an ideology and who just do the network's bidding have been careful to hype McCain as a "maverick, straight shooter, good guy". Tom Brokaw actually pimped him for Republican voters on the air when the primary was still a toss up.
We will see the pros and cons of McCain at NBC thanks to KO, but KO only has one hour a day with two reruns a day----that leaves McCain with the rest of the 24 hours.
If things continue as they are, CBS will promote McCain and tear down Obama because of Viacom's ongoing media ownership problem. ABC will tear down McCain with a passion because they are at war with him over A La Carte Cable (Disney, the parent company is the biggest lobbyist against McCain's pet cable project) and CNN will attempt to subtly aid Obama and hurt McCain over cable issues. The Tribune papers, the NYT and the WaPo will actively attack Obama and help McCain, and the McClatchy papers will be neutral. Right wing radio will do what it does.
This will not be as bad as 2000 and 2004 when all the networks were in W.'s camp. Lots of journalists like Obama, and having ABC and CNN negative towards McCain is going to hurt. KO is going to hurt him too. I am glad that we are back in GE mode so Dems have stopped beating up on each other. It was a waste of energy.

14. This is to be expected...the media wants a horserace |
|
not a blowout. They know McCain needs more than a little help too. The speed of Obama's recovery from the primaries is shocking some people obviously. But we've known for a while too that the MSM likes John McCain and they were going to hold Obama to a higher standard. This hasn't been a great week for Obama, not as great as last week. McCain seems to have flanked Obama on this whole lobbyist thing and the MSM is using BOTH McCain and Obama to defend lobbyists who they like and defend anyway. It's been a pretty weird week, but Obama has had much worse...so you need to cool down and expect the worse until it's time to vote in Nov.

|
always and forever. They want no regulation, no taxes and no questions asked about whether their news coverage serves the public interest. It's not about making it a horserace, it's about actively trying to skew the outcome in favor of increased corporate power and away from economic populism and a regulatory environment that serves the people.

How something so innocuous and NOTHING-sounding could result in any type of media attention.
But never underestimate the power of the media to make a mountain out of a molehill. And they know that even the SUGGESTION that a married black senator could be lusting after a blue-eyed blonde Hollywood actress would be enough to rile the blood of some of the less "tolerant" among us. Desperate, pathetic and fairly cunning all at the same time...

We need to be inundating the shows and their sponsors as long as this continues to happen. Just turning off the TV doesn't fix anything.

The agenda of big corporate media is the agenda of other big corporate entities: zero regulation, zero taxation, and limitless corporate power. Whenever populism rears its head, as it did with Howard Dean, it must be put down. They'll do their best to trivialize the differences between Obama and McFourmoreyears, but I don't think it'll stick this time. People are too pissed off.

On the other side, is the Negative Forces: They want more than their share...by any means...they are the selfish ones...they are the GOP.
