1. Is it greedy of me to be disappointed that we 'only' have 58 senators?
Oh what the hell, I'm going to reach high. I want 60!

2. I'd be happy if that was how it looked on election day
It would not totally disappoint me that Obama didn't win any southern states.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to win all of the southern states (and New England states, the Pacific coast, Rocky Mountain, plains, etc)

But, it would end that meme that a Democratic candidate cannot win without winning a southern state.

4. It's of interest to note that Virginia is tied...
and that states like North and South Carolina and Mississippi (which were strongly Republican four years ago) are now polling as 'weak Republican', though. I'd expect at least Virginia to go Democratic, and possibly Louisiana and North Carolina.

5. I think we can take LA as well
If mcbush picks Jindrak we're probably sunk in LA.
But on the bright side Jindrak's brand of ultra-conservatism will end any chance of mcbush winning in Ohio, Nevada, Iowa, New Mexico, Colorado and New Hampshire.

6. WE NEED 60 VOTES IN THE SENATE!!! 58 is simply not good enough. While we're at it,
we need much more BLUE on that map!! It's still far too red!! :(

13. Franken is priority in my view.
But yes landrieu needs more support. Tho I think as McCain continues to get exposed the downticket races will start moving towards dems.

10. Racism?
I'm not one to rush to that answer on every issue. In this case, remember that a lot of displaced persons never returned. The number of African Americans who left may have been enough to allow Jindal to get elected Governor. My guess is that repub strategists were not too enthusiastic about returning people to New Orleans. And it worked.

12. I don't think they will.
They are quickly learning McCain is little more than an asshole here. One of my parents who was strong McCain went Obama after hearing McCain get confused on several BIG issues.

11. I think LA and MS will go Obama.
Not now but as time goes on and they learn more and more on what McCain really is which is an asshole who will not help them. I think they will go blue.

14. Yes, the Numbers Look Good
but it's still hanging by a thread: five states which are barely Dem (OH, MI, WI, MO, and NM) account for 63 EV, or a swing of 126 if they all flip the other way.

But for now, I'll take it. I think Obama is only going to get stronger from here.

15. OH and MI worry me the most
OH has been moving Dem for a while now and I hoped it would be stronger than what this map shows. MI worries me because I can't shake the feeling that some disaffected Dem voters will not get over the whole primary thing. I hope they will. NM being so close strengthens (in my opinion) the need to choose Bill Richardson as VP.

16. We're gonna kick out Gordon Smith in Oregon
He'll be replaced by Jeff Merkley, a progressive Democrat.

This is looking good.

17. Looking good
As long as we get to 270, I'm happy. I predict we will take Virginia and possibly Nevada as well. McCain is running an awful campaign and will be overwhelmed by the organization of Obama's campaign.
