As long as McCain brings up Obama's youth, his age is completely open, fair game
Edited on Thu Jun-12-08 10:46 PM by zulchzulu
I find it odd that the McCain whiners and particularly Ol' Reptile Neck Johnny go poo poo in their absorbent incontinence underpants.

“I admire and respect Senator Obama. For a young man with very little experience, he’s done very well. So I appreciate-with his very, very great lack of experience and knowledge of the issues, he’s been very successful..."

- John McCain

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0805/25/bb.02.html

McCain uses this as his standard creepy delivery with clueless Repigs and thinks it's funny. But... if the Obama campaign uses words like "lost", "confused" or "wrong", oh, boy, pull out the Big Whiner Act... Repigs are very good at whining like little pimple-faced punks in the schoolyard.

So the big "message" today is how DARE the Obama campaign mention age as an issue. Only, perhaps it's a clear case of forgetfulness and the equivalent of walking off into the parking lot without their keys crying for their momma.

If McCain brings up Obama's age, then he better get ready for the cannons to fire right back at his ol' soggy Depends.

4. I love the "confused" and "lost" memes. They are *very* effective.
Primarily because they give cover to attack McCain's malicious viewpoints on policy (taking his hypocritical stances on the issues as simple "confusion"), while forcing voters to ask whether they want a man that is confused and lost as Commander-in-Chief. It undermines his authority and credibility and leaves an indelible impression in voters' minds.

Kerry has used this strategy beyond perfection. I've even noticed the subtlety of this attack working among my own co-workers when I use it.

McCain brought age into the equation. It's fair game.

5. I agree, if McShame uses age against Obama, then....
turnabout is definitely in order.

Fuck those who call a cease to any 'Gramps'-style posting. Age is fair game to all.

6. Thats right.
McCain wants to play down Obama as to young, he has to accept the attacks on him for age. All McCain wants to do is talk about Iraq, and things that have no importance to the people of this country. Obama needs to take him to task on the economy, high oil prices, McCains flip flop on issues, and if republicans want to go after anyone who Obama knows and try and use it to paint him as a radical, then then also need to go after McCain and all his former associations with very questionable people.

7. It may feel like fun
but it isn't helpful. When you use age as an attack on mccain, you risk irritating several million voters over the age of 60 whose support we need. There are so many things wrong with the jerk that using age is pointless. It just plays well for him. Think about it.

12. He is doddering and he is a fool.
Being his age is just what he is. Is your mom a doddering fool? Is she of the opinion that anyone her age is too old to be president? Will Obama be a fool when he reaches 67? From your perfect position in the realm of age, can you tell us at what birthday we all suddenly go stupid?

This is a stupid line of attack. It is counter-productive. Maybe all the dudes down at the bar avoiding the wife and kids will laugh and agree, but committed progressives have been liberal and productive until well past mccain's age. He is just a fool. Ageism, like sexism and racism is wrong.

10. CHECK THIS OUT: In 2000, McCain says (on video) that he would be too old in 2008 to run
Hye John, do you want an ad that we have no control over?

Lehrer: Finally for the record, you have not lost your desire to be President of the United States have you?

McCain: Certainly it’s been put in deep cold storage. haha..

Lehrer: You haven’t lost it?

McCain: Well, in 2004, I expect to be campaigning for the reelection of President George W. Bush, and by 2008, I think I might be ready to go down to the old soldiers home and await the cavalry charge there.

13. I agree. They're trying to shut down age comments because they are powerful.
Their guy doesn't have a good command of the facts, which may or may not be due to aging. And his aging and attendant infirmities may be important to voters. So if the Republicans can shut down the whole area of argument, they win !

17. Obama's team needs to run a ad with
previous Presidents that where younger than Obama when they took office.

Theodore Roosevelt John F Kennedy, U.S. Grant, Bill Clinton

contrast it with the Presidents who where older than McCain when they took office.
