The personal attacks have begun...
in earnest. And the media will be the megaphone for those attacks. They will attack Michelle Obama. They will attack Obama's birth certificate. They will say he is the most "liberal" person in the Senate. They will attack his VP vetters. They will make all types of ridiculous charges that the media will lend credibility.

One thing we cannot do is to ignore these charges. They must be shot down as they come up. It is unfortunate that we will have to waste our time being on the defensive and answering these charges, but it must be done. Hopefully, the positive message will be able to get out also. And the issues must continue to be addressed. We cannot forget the economy, the gas prices, the war in Iraq, the incompetence, the criminality, the investigations, and the change that is necessary.

1. That's why we in the 'grass roots' should be the ones to answer
the small stuff. The candidate shouldn't have to fight these nit-picky rumors but should focus instead on the Big Picture. I agree completely. :kic:

2. Not surprising at all.
All during the primary system I kept on pointing out that no matter who the nominee wound up being, he or she would be viciously attacked on any and all real or imagined weak points. The exact attacks depended on who the nominee would be.

And of course we must push back against all of them. That's why the Obama campaign itself has started its own Fight the Smears website: http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/fightthesmearshome/

4. Obama's new stopthesmear website will be effective against....
the MSM's parrotting RW swiftboating lies.

If Obama can get debunking info up on the site immediately, Obama and his supporters can legitimately denounce the media that gives voice to the swiftboating lies.
