HELP! Need an answer..... |
|
A friend who was a huge Hillary supporter and still seems a little bitter about Hillary not winning - said she will write in Hillary in the General Election. She said the way it was explained to her was that Hillary Write-Ins will count for Obama. That way, she said, she will show her support for Hillary up to the bitter end, yet not take anything away from Obama or give something to McStupid.
I told her that I don't think she was told quite the truth but she insists that this is how it was explained to her. She never said who exactly explained that to her even tho I asked.
So is this some sort of scam? Is it the truth?
If someone could tell me so I can pass it on to her and urge her to reconsider (which I have already done) I'd appreciate it. Jesus Christ - I never heard of such a thing - but maybe I'm just uninformed in that matter, who knows.
If this isn't the right forum to post this in - my apologies.

Her vote will basically be ignored... my sister is doing the same thing and she insists it won't matter because the state will go blue no matter what and so, because she knows our delegates will vote for Obama anyway, she's doing a write-in to "make her point". :silly:

5. The whole point of a write-in is that you can choose a candidate who isn't on the ballot. |
|
Edited on Fri Jun-13-08 12:19 PM by BattyDem
Why would it count for Obama?
Go to your state's election web site and check out the rules on write-in votes. I'm sure it will contradict her, so print it out and give it to her. :)

make a call to your state elections division...in OR we have an 800 number that they answer right away. Have them explain to her...that a write in vote for Hillary will count as a vote for Hillary which is essentially a vote for McSame.

9. Vote not cast for Obama will not count for Obama. |
|
yes, it's some sort of scam. "Write in Hillary but it will really count for Obama." is a lie. Simple logic would tell you (or her) this. Ask the question "why doesn't it count for McCain or Bob Barr or Nader, why Obama?"
She is throwing her vote away.
Hillary has endorsed Obama, it's time for her constituents to follow her example and vote Obama.

10. Tell your friend that writing in Hillary isn't the same as voting for Obama, BUT |
|
voting for McCain is exactly the same thing as writing in Bush.

11. Years ago, in the old mechanical machines, you could do a write-in by hand. |
|
It only went to the person who was written in the space.
Later on, it might be lumped with "OTHER" write ins in any report.

14. The infamous 44 site is responsible for this BS about write-ins counting for Obama |
|
This is the republican spiel: do not write in Hillary, because it will count for Obama because they are both democrats. Thus, you must vote McCain to show support for hillary.
This GOP lie needs to be straightened out by us, and HRC if possible.

25. Hillaryis44 is a troll site that pretended to be pro-Hillary |
|
It was run by a guy named Rodriquez, who tried to hide his identity. He was a big Perot backer. The site was also full of malwear, so if you visited it, do a scan and wash your hands.

|
So most states don't even have a write-in option anymore.
Plus any vote for anyone other than Obama will not count for Obama.
Tell her to follow Hillary's lead and vote for our nominee to defeat McSame.

I swear - I kept pushing and she now says she got the info from the Democratic Party - and they would know what they are talking about. She lives in NY - I live in PA - I been arguing about this with her for the better part of the weekend. She sticks to it. I dunno what else to do. If it wasn't so damn important I would give up - but even so, I just can't get thru to her.

And many others require a petition of signatures before hand.
ANY VOTE NOT FOR OBAMA IS NOT A VOTE FOR OBAMA.
