Fox News says Russert "started having problems breathing"
Several sources confirm to FOX News that Russert was in what is known as a tracking booth, recording voice-overs for the upcoming show, and started having problems breathing. He apparently collapsed and an ambulance was called. He was unconscious as he left and never revived.

1. Apparently he just got back from Italy--might have been a blood clot from
the flight?

4. It does sound like a pulmonary embolism.
That was my first impression as well (see below).

7. Sure does. Sounds like a Deep Vein Thrombosis resulting in a clot which got loose.
It hit the lungs or heart, and that was that. Scary how fast they can hit and kill.

22. Jesus, that would be particularly horrifying because that is what his colleague
David Bloom died of.

8. NBC is just unlucky as hell when it comes to these things.
Remember David Bloom?

I was just looking for more information on Tim when I found this.

15. I remember David Bloom - I was a big fan and always watched weekend Today
to hear his stories. He was one of the few mainstream journalists I enjoyed watching. He was even younger than Tim.

12. Well, that's that then. Pulmonary embolism caused by a DVT.
Why this continues to happen to NBC is a tragic mystery.

10. He was on Vacation
with his kid celebrating his Graduation. That is so sad. I just lost my Father 2 years ago and I was 27 at the time. Losing your father in your late 20s is tough. I can't imagine in your early 20s just when you can start the not being Dad and son and talk honestly with each other.

The 5 years I had with my Father after graduation I would never trade for anything.

FauxNews just had John Gibson on there commenting on Tim, followed by...LIZ TROTTA (she of the "I want Obama assassinated" comment). Good grief.

23. In their defense, some cable companies don't carry MSNBC.
Though I would imagine most carry CNN.

Whatever, I'm personally fortunate to not even have to know which channel Fox News is.
