Barack Obama calls Tim Russert "thoughtful", "irreplaceable", and "One of the finest men I knew". |
|
Many here vehemently disagree, and have belittled Russert's defenders as little more than apologists for a biased, war-mongering, neocon. Could those individuals please explain whether or not they view our Presidential candidate in the same light?

11. How you derived that from my post will have to remain your own personal little secret. |

But we apparently need a "scratches head in disbelief" smilie.

14. I'm obviously not someone who trashed Russert, but you drawing |

correlations to the kind words Obama spoke begs the same smilie.

what he had to say is more important to me than any naysayers here. Obama actually KNEW Russert.

4. I am actually disappointed in many of the threads I have read |
|
on DU today.
Tim Russert wasn't perfect as no human can claim to be, but he sure as hell wasn't Faux News.
We lost a good journalist today - one who cared about the truth, his work and his family. His reporting left some of us wondering at times but he still was a descent journalist.
Have we at DU become so poisoned by the Neocon scourge that we are emulating them.
A man died, his family mourns...we should give him and his family some respect.
RIP Tim Russert!!

I didn't always agree with Russert, but I believe he was a decent guy.
May he rest in peace.

16. Some people are ass holes. Plain and simple. No excuses for them |
|
I remember when Senator Paul Wellstone died. There were some kooks who danced on his grave because they were opposed to his politics. I thought that was terrible. How can humans check their humanity at the door like that? Seems like every time someone involved with politics dies, there are some kooks and assholes who delight in using the time right after his death to denounce him. Sick when they are Repukes and right wing Christians doing it. Equally sick when our side does it too.

What can Obama say? The truth?
That Russert was a rightwing shill?
Of course not. The man is dead.
I can say it .. I'm not running for anything and I don't care what anyone else thinks.
Besides, I kind of like the truth.

I disagree. He actually KNEW Tim Russert, unlike the uninformed mob comprised of people like, ummm ... you.

8. I really liked Tim Russert. I think there are times he could have been |
|
more critical of the right wing orthodoxy, however overall he seemed to try very hard in his own way to be a real newsman. I give him props. My Sunday mornings won't ever be the same without him.

I'm not trying to belittle you, or call you a biased, war-mongering neocon....but come on.
I view Obama in the exact same light as I always did. He's running for president and he's going to say what he has to say in each and every situation that comes up between now and November, and he'd be an idiot to do otherwise.

20. I'm not sure I understand your question, 11 Bravo |
|
Are you asking the few individuals who called Russert "an apologists for a biased, war-mongering, neocon" whether they view Obama as "an apologists for a biased, war-mongering, neocon"?
