Anyone want a Tim Russert banner?
I am not much of a graphics guy but I am going to have this up on my site for the duration of the weekend, I feel it's the least I can do. If anyone would like to use it please feel free, you may even link to it if you like. (ignore the name of it, I am just using it so I don't have to recode when I put my other one back) I also have the PSD if interested.

14. Look at the posters sig line
That is probably why he/she is so pissed off. I'm not saying that is an excuse for such crass behavior but when you think about the many dead men and women in Iraq it does make one angry. I'm not saying Russert was a bad guy because there are worse such as Fox News. I guess compared to the worst of the worst Russert was a good guy and my heart goes out to his family. I think it so easy for some of us to hate those who we perceive to carry the water of the GOP because of this war and the many lives lost to it. The poster is just angry and I hope he/she will step back for a moment and calm down.

34. Russert was wrong about the war. There was more to him in 58 years than that.
But of course, even Democratic Underground is not immune from the classical conservative mindset, to falsely reduce complicated issues and people down to a single characterized at which to spew forth hatred.

Good to see our Free-Repunderground faction represented in such force tonight.

I didn't know Russert personally and I feel really sorry for his family. I am able to see pass all that and realize that yes we are all human and we all make mistakes. I'm just saying the above poster obviously is not able to get over that. As I said I hope he/she will take a step back and calm down. We are all gonna go someday and I would hope that if we are to be judged by the living that we are judged fairly.

The first amendment does not apply to a PRIVATE BOARD.

You're here at the pleasure of the administrators of this site, and enjoy ZERO first amendment protection. Now, they may not agree with some of the posters here that some of comments on this thread shouldn't be made. But they decide what you can and can't say since you agreed to the terms of service when you asked to join their privately operated forum.

39. It sure does.
It says for example, that he's able to look at the career of a man, rather than reduce him down to a silly charicature because he was wrong at least once in his life, and that he's able not to act exactly like the free-republican nutjobs we criticize in spewing forth hatred and stupidity. It also says that he realizes that there's something to be said for respect and kindness in speaking of the dead, if for no other reason than how stupifyingly insensitive it is to grieving loved ones to shit on a man's grave.

Wow, sounds like the kind of man I want for president. And PS - Hillary Clinton would do the same, because she has that much grace and dignity.

"I’ve known Tim Russert since I first spoke at the convention in 2004. He’s somebody who, over time, I came to consider not only a journalist but a friend. There wasn’t a better interviewer in TV, not a more thoughtful analyst of our politics, and he was also one of the finest men I knew. Somebody who cared about America, cared about the issues, cared about family. I am grief-stricken with the loss and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family. And I hope that, even though Tim is irreplaceable, that the standard that he set in his professional life and his family life are standards that we all carry with us in our own lives."

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0608/Obama_on_Russerts_death.html

Why should you care?

Because as I said to another still angry and bitter over losing poster, it says about our candidate, for example, that he's able to look at the career of a man, rather than reduce him down to a silly charicature because he was wrong at least once in his life, and that he's able not to act exactly like the free-republican nutjobs we criticize in spewing forth hatred and stupidity. 43. Conservatives say he's too liberal. Liberals say he's too conservative.
That's called being a decent journalist, for the most part.

70. Not true.. McClatchy News wasn't nor was PBS.... (NOW & Bill Moyers) anyway....
So, I'm glad you now agree that Tim Russert had a hand in it!

I guess we're on the same page again.... ;)

72. Lots of people had a hand in it, including my father, and some DUers.
Lots of people supported the war, thought they were right, and turned out to be wrong.

They didn't all do it because they love murder or hate our soliders. Some of them actually believed the government.... I know, I know.. .stupid them.

My Dad's not a bad person or a bad professional. He was just wrong.

77. I'll bet that hurts you, at some level but

You are not your father.... I agree. Many that had the responsibility, to 'know', didn't research
it enough but after they knew it was a really bad decision; some continued to defend it. Those
are the people I want OUT!!!! We knocked many out in the primaries. That's a good thing but
we have to remain vigilant over our government!! We can not allow it to slip back into that
same mindset now! I'm guessing you are hurting, due to your Dad's decisions and what you
read on DU. Know this... you are NOT to blame for your father's decisions. Ever!!!!
