Thumbs up to Obama for not backing down to McCain.
Edited on Sat Jun-14-08 01:33 PM by Drunken Irishman
The story now flips to why McCain is so scared to do a moderated debate. It seems he's only content with those town hall forums, you know, where you can PLANT questions.

"Senator McCain, you're a war hero, while your opponent never served in the military, do you think this makes him less likely to be a good president?"

"Senator McCain, big government already messes things up as is, so why would anyone want them to take over healthcare?"

"Senator McCain, your tax plan actually benefits the American people, so why don't they all support it?"

"Senator McCain, Osam--err Obama is backed by the terrorists. Doesn't that just make you sick?"

Yes, let's have 10 of these without a single traditional debate.

1. You've got a good point there. Town Halls are vulnerable to manipulation unless they
are moderated themselves.

2. In a debate you can be called out by your opponent.
McCain is so vulnerable that he would never agree to more debates than he absolutely has to.

3. Drag his old ass out there for a real debate...
NOt something that he can manipulate and control. If he can't stand the heat, let him get out of the race and let Huckabee have the job. :-)

4. I'm sorry, but I haven't kept up with the debate on debate recently
Didn't Obama want a portion of the debates to be lincoln-douglas style, which are pretty different from the moderated debates that we typically see at the presidential debates (which isn't to say that there's not some degree of moderation)
