17. Oh don't be silly - the "now" prezzie is touring Europe, rubbing elbows
with the Pope, he can't be bothered with the likes of any floods. The peasants will just have to make due, the King is busy.

:grr:

20. exactly. this is just one of MANY examples of failed leadership
the guy is so arrogantly asinine, he thinks one shout through a bullhorn should be enough for 8 years of a presidency.

He's the worst kind of person. intellectually incurious, partisan to the bone, vindictive, incompetent, and in position of power.

I'm laughing about his "history will judge" comments as they are merely stalling tactics. From the perspective of 20 or 50 years out I'm sure they will even judge him far more harshly than we do now.

24. the scarey thing is, he is so out of it, his reality so skewed, he truly
believes that history will be kind to him.

30. McCain's absence from the area and not commenting on it (from what I've seen/heard) ...
... is especially ironic given his recent "not on my watch" speeches given from down in Louisiana. Apparently he was just talking about cat-5 hurricanes hitting the LA/MS coast.

6. I haven't had the TV on today.. has this gotten any air time at all? I know Obama didn't
do it for that reason.. but I'm just wondering if any of the MSM picked up on it, or if they're still doing Russert 24/7.

26. I wouldn't have known about this if I hadn't checked here on DU
And I've been watching the teevee news. Plenty of flood coverage, but no mention of Obama showing up and helping out. The networks don't want people seeing him acting like a president should. They've all got their heads up McBush's ass.

More and more every day. This is how a real leader acts!

He's also calling for citizens to help with flood relief on his home page. What the &%#* are McCain, Cheney and Bu$h doing?

25. One of the things I noticed
about Obama, early on I noticed in a pic. that he had dirt under his finger nails. That is how he impressed me. I can't really explain my reasons why, but that was for me a turning point that I was very proud to make.

16. Imagine if Bush had done a damn thing during Katrina
What was really annoying was that Hurricane Andrew happened on his dad's watch...you'd think he'd have taken notes on what worked and what didn't.

Oh, wait, of course he hasn't - it's the weekend. I forgot.

Maybe Monday he'll give a wave of solidarity from Cindy's private jet.

28. He's an Illinois Senator and soon the US President.
Not only is he running for the WH, but you have to figure he knows folks that live in Quincy from his Senate campaign.

I am so very proud of him. Finally the rest of the country is getting to see the man we know here in Illinois.

29. Thanks for the pics.... from my old hometown.
My nephew tried getting over to that sandbagging effort to see Obama, but he wasn't allowed in. (for being too young without an accompanying adult? Odd)

I hope Obama headed down to Hannibal, too. It would've been a short trip to help out a town on the Missouri side of the river.
