Tom Brokaw looked like he was just about to break down on MTP. |

like it was killing him to do it. His facial expressions were awful. I think he is extremely sad and I'm sure it hurt a bit to do it.

8. on MSNBC, Tom said..... |
|
he and Tim had been talking about getting their weight under control. Like doing workouts together and stuff like that. Although, Tom said he didn't know anything about his medical condition. So apparently, they were friends.....

11. I thought that was a really nice tribute... |

Edited on Sun Jun-15-08 11:44 AM by hlthe2b
It is too bad, I think, that there was so much wall-to-wall (and over the top) coverage since Friday... It took something away from this morning's MTP tribute, which should have been the ultimate one. But, I found it quite poignant and as much as I had issues with Russert these past few years, I do admire him....
Too bad so many can't bring themself to see him with all the complexities of any human--warts and all.
RIP, Tim

12. Interesting contrast: On ABC's This Week, they mostly talked about the news |
|
You know a news program talking about the news instead of about their friend who just died doesn't seem like a bad way to honor a journalist.
Doing a segment to honor a guy who they all respected is a classy move. Ignoring all other news for nearly 48 hours is just maudlin.

15. Bucky, I too watched ABC prior to MTP |
|
Edited on Sun Jun-15-08 03:06 PM by hlthe2b
Did you watch MTP as well? I admittedly did out of curiosity, but actually enjoyed watching the tribute... It was poignant without being maudlin and often humorous and interesting to hear from a range of people who had worked with Russert, including historian, Doris Kearns Goodwin. Yes, it did underscore how very "inside the beltway" most of these folks are, (and I fault them mightily for that), but I did find it interesting.
I agree with you, though that the 48 hours of coverage prior was over-the-top. That actually took away (IMO) from this morning's MTP.
