Poll question: Which 2008 Repubican contender for President was the MOST pathetic?
Edited on Sun Jun-15-08 01:16 PM by Bicoastal
I'm excluding John McCain, of course, since he won their primary (more or less by default).

1. Rudy.. seriously, thinking that he could come in first based on Florida?
Did he even campaign in the other states?

14. Yeah, I have to go with Rudy over Fred. What a bunch of losers.
Fred slept through it, but for quite a while, Rudy actually led the polls.

Until people got to see what a total piece of horse dung the guy is. Might have been the worst campaign by anybody EVER.

15. That was the worst strategy I ever saw. All or nothing based on Florida of all places.
He was leading in those meaningless early national polls, but his campaign must've been run by a bunch of dumb gamblers to think he could skip four straight states and put it all in Florida.

He did (barely) set foot in the other states. But after a couple of visits his people gave up quite easily.

2. Any choice in this poll is the right choice.
Actually, it's the Far right choice, too.

"Pathetic" is exactly the word.

I'd have to go with Tommy Thompson because of both his spectacular cluelessness plus that Neanderthal vibe he gives off, Fred Thompson because he had the backwind glory profile and blew it almost instantly by sheer laziness, and Giuliani, because he thought he would waltz into the nomination -- and the more he met with actual voters the more they realized what a no-count thug he was, and they turned against him like he was contaminated meat.

3. We need multiple choice option for this one
I just can't decide... So many contenders for the title. Only one clown err, crown

4. The whole bunch are extremely pathetic.
So much so that McSame won the thing.

Remember this is a guy the Conservatives destroyed in past elections. They hate his almost as much as we do.

That is what is amazing to me.

But damn, it would have been fun to see him lose 70-30 to Obama again.

8. I voted Paul, who was not a nice guy when he was my Rep.
Used to campaing against opponents by picking on their names and asking "What kind of name is that, anyway?" Yeah, he didn't write all that racist crap in his newsletters under his name. Sure.

27. Wow, I never knew that..
Takes away whatever respect I had for him for sure. While I'd never vote for any Republican, to me, he was probably the most bearable candidate out of the bunch, because he at least had the balls to question the war. But the racist-like behavior puts a serious damper on any good he could've done..

23. I think the OP was looking for the most pathetic fart.
As you are aware, some farts are silent but deadly, others disrupt church services. The OP I believe, was looking for a particular blend of stink....The kind of stink that says: "Is this actually a fart or did someone forget to brush their teeth again?" IMO, Rudy Giuliani passes that particular sniff test.

18. The whole notion of Fred Thompson running was always hilarious to me
And the way the Dittoheads I work with ate it up like it was a serious possibility. Too funny.

Rudy, was a close runner up because he was such an idiot the whole time and threw away what should have been a done deal.

19. I'm going with Rudy.
9/11 was his only issue and even then it didn't reflect all that nicely on him. Also he kept on running even though he was getting his ass kicked (in Iowa he came behind fucking Ron Paul. RON PAUL BEAT GIULIANI FOR CHRISSAKES!)

Edited on Sun Jun-15-08 04:34 PM by latte_liberal_86
I'd probably go with Giuliani. Him skipping Iowa, New Hampshire and all the early states and betting it ALL on Florida was not only kinda arrogant...it was STUPID. I mean, I have no doubt that his pro-choice stance would've scared them off from nominating him in the end, but c'mon, he at least could've gotten closer than THAT! His candidacy went down in flames!

And to think that he and Hillary (and hey, at least SHE worked at it!) were both considered by most to be the 'inevitable' nominees at the beginning of the primary season. My, how things change..the pundits' predictions were really off this year! :D lol..
