Paging Captain Obvious: Study: Americans use Net to look beyond sound bite
They're just now noticing this?

Americans dissatisfied with political sound bites are turning to the Internet for a more complete picture, a new study finds.

In a report Sunday, the Pew Internet and American Life Project said that nearly 30 percent of adults have used the Internet to read or watch unfiltered campaign material — footage of debates, position papers, announcements and transcripts of speeches.

"They want to see the full-blown campaign event. They want to read the speech from beginning to end," said Lee Rainie, director of the Pew group. "It's a push back from the sound-bite culture."

Google Inc.'s YouTube and other video sites have become more popular. Thirty-five percent of adults have watched a political video online during the primary season, compared with 13 percent during the entire 2004 presidential race.

2. I wondered why the MSM wasn't having as much of an effect as they usually do.
Looks like people are finally waking up.

3. It's the only place we'll ever get real info
about the candidates. Damn sure won't get it from the television newscasters.

4. They finally figured out that we don't want to hear the opinions of the talking heads.....
while we are deprived from seeing the candidates unplugged?

5. Television has lost a lot of influence since 2004
There are other studies (that I'm too lazy to find) that show more Americans are using the Internet to get their general news than than television. In fact, people are spending more time online than in front of the teevee, across the board.

This revolution is not being televised. :)

6. It's a generational thing
When my Aunt, who is in her early 60's, wanted Obama to spell out more of his positions, I told her to look it up on his website. She said that she didn't want to spend time doing that. Yes, she does own a computer (and calls my husband for maintenance). She just wants to get her information the old-fashioned way - in little sound bites.

7. I warned the Morning Joe show when they were only showing that Harriet person
saying she would vote for McCain after getting tossed from the rules meeting, that more people than watch their show had seen the entire clip on youtube. So people are watching and saying why aren't they showing the whole clip? Hmmm, they must have an agenda.

The MSM media's days are numbered. Reporters post bullshit on new websites. Posters come along and take them to task with their comments when they misrepresent or attempt to spin. The news game is changing. It's interactive now and any outlet that doesn't realize that is headed for the dustbin of history.
