I cannot believe the McCain ad I saw on Lifetime today |
|
It was set up as more of an ad for Lifetime's "Army Wives" show, not a campaign ad. In a nut shell McCain tells us how Cindy makes him watch "Army Wives" and we should all remember military families and their sacrfices.
I could not find a direct link to email Lifetime but after some fiddling around on the site I found a comments section. This is what I sent them:
"I was shocked that "television for women" would use John McCain in an ad for "Army Wives". Really amusing coming from a man who dumped the wife who stuck by him through his years as a POW for a younger, richer and more attactive model. And just odd that he claims it's the 2nd wife is the one telling him to watch "Army Wives".
Check the real story out - it would make a great Lifetime movie. Only, in Lifetime tradition, I don't think the husband would (or should) get portrayed as a hero."

5. They did not run the Obama one when I was watching |

in fact after a couple regular commercials, they ran the McCain "I hate war" ad.
And, even if Obama is doing one, it's just typical Republican hypocrisy for McCain to do this.

6. He supports the GOP constitutional amendment agenda of outlawing the birth control pill. |
|
Why wouldn't women want to get on board with that?

7. Lifetime is a pretty insulting channel in general |
|
Granted, I haven't watched it for a while but they were always airing these cheesy, soap-opera, "Lifetime Exclusive" movies with the most inane titles. I always felt like I was watching the Bodice Ripper channel.
Give me Comedy Central any day.

11. I'm all for helping military families |

I just don't think, given his history, that McCain should be a spokesman for it. He would, however, be a great candidate for a Lifetime "all men are pigs" movie.

14. I whole heartedly agree |

and an "all men are pigs" movie would probably fit into Lifetime's schedule really well. ;)

12. They couldn't have Obama do one without having McCain do one. |
|
And vice versa. Equal time rule and all that.
Even Hillary may have recorded one for them to show just in case, and which we don't see.

You are confusing the Fairness Doctrine with the Equal Opportunities (commonly called "Equal Time") rules.
