***BREAKING NEWS! MSNBC Russert Tribute to Go Through November*** |
|
Edited on Mon Jun-16-08 07:59 AM by sfam
***BREAKING NEWS*** MSNBC has decided to pass on covering the election season and instead will just continue to run "Remembering Tim Russert" Tributes through November.
Apparently Tim was more than just an inspirational leader and host of Meet the Press. Without him, NBC is no longer capable of reporting on the election. But apparently, even though their news division cannot comment on new events, they still can remember their feelings about Tim Russert. Joe Scarborough was overheard saying, "The interesting part of the election is over anyways. Why bother covering its conclusion? Remembering Tim is just so much more fascinating because I get to talk about "me" when I remember Tim."
In related news, CNN, ABC and CBS said they would only cover Tim for 30% of the available time through November. Fox is reported to have canceled the hourly Remembering Russert segment when data showed that it conflicted with messages given in the hourly Reverend Wright Damn America segment.

3. If you don't like it, don't watch it. People polluting GDP with Russert complaining |

are far more annoying in my book.
And a-one, and a-two, and a hide thread.

4. LOL! I liked it, anyway. Your spoof has this notable grain of truth in it— |
|
"Remembering Tim is just so much more interesting because I get to talk about me." They love when they can be self-referential. It underscores their importance (to themselves). They are also engaging in a huge mass audition. Somebody has to fill Russert's power vacuum, er, I mean shoes.

17. It is unbelievable, however he not only suggested at once but twice |
|
He was talking about the election and how hard it will be to conduct the results without Timmeh and perhaps we should just cancel the elections. I think one time he was talking with Chuck Todd and can't remember who he said it to the second time.
MSNBC doesn't have any transcripts from Friday, so I guess you'll have to take my word on it and I can't remember the exact quote. But my hubby heard him say it also, and we both said :wtf:
Like I said he was in shock and was probably just rambling, I didn't take him serious. I just found it strange that he would even suggest such a thing on-air.

10. I could barely believe my eyes when I turned on the TV this morning and yes, there it was again.. |
|
the Banner, the memories, the fond farewells, the tributes.. and now, we're getting a PUBLIC WAKE instead of the private one.
I guess the public outcry for MORE RUSSERT DEATH COVERAGE was too loud for them to ignore.
Cute thread, thanks !

now the poor soul is gone BUT
Clinton AND Obama supporters from the old GD P, can vilify, eulogize, criticize and defend him with unfettered vehemence
I'd like to think the topic has more value than a therapy tool for poli-board junkies

...by beating to death the topic of the media beating a topic to death.
Hooray for Irony. Now would you all grow the hell up and knock if off already? They worked side by side with the guy for years and in some cases decades, he was a close personal friend, and he fucking died right there at the office in front of them. Give them some goddamn slack for chrissake, I don't give a shit what your gripes with Russert's journalistic integrity were show a little basic human decency and shut the fuck up. They at least have an excuse for obsessing about this, all of you jumping on this particular bandwagon DO NOT.
