Trying to stay relevant, Lanny Davis joins Fox News
At least we won't have to see him on CNN or MSNBC anymore

A Clintonite's Choice

Fox News's newest contributor, to be announced today, may surprise the liberal crowd: former Clinton White House lawyer Lanny Davis.

"Fox has always treated me with respect and given me a chance to express my point of view," Davis says of the network that the Democratic candidates refused to grant a debate out of concern that it favors Republicans. He will be a frequent guest, along with such Fox stalwarts as Karl Rove and Newt Gingrich.

A relentless surrogate for Hillary Clinton, Davis says, he felt "ganged up on" during appearances on the other cable channels. He says that Clinton was "demonized" by MSNBC's Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann, and that CNN's primary-night panels were tilted toward the Obama side.

"Does Fox have a conservative slant on some of their programs? Yes," Davis says. "They're giving me a chance to provide a counterpoint, and that's all I can ask."

1. This news turns my stomach, as does Lanny Davis.
When will Terry McAuliffe sign on (as if he hasn't already)?

2. McAuliffe is a good democrat
who has worked on causes for democrats for years. I hope he is not banned from the "free press."

4. McAuliffe and Lanny Davis are very different. I would never put Terry in the same
category as Lanny. Terry is a Democrat. Lanny not so much - as he showed when he was everywhere pushing Joe Lieberman and trashing the Dems.

7. McAuliffe went on Fox News and praised them for "really being fair and balanced."
He should be ashamed of himself for that.

9. History will show, ironically
That fox news was more balanced in the democratic primary than any of the other cable networks. He spoke the truth. It was unfortunate that the other cable networks chose to be cheerleaders rather than news givers.

All in all, McAuliffe has been an asset to our party.

26. The irony in your ironic statement is hillarious.
Time will tell if Lanny can help Faux regain some of their credibility.

As if.

But, your saying that McAwful spoke the truth cracked me up quite a bit here.
The other networks didn't "choose" to be cheerleaders, Obama was in the lead for the last 3 months of the campaign.
Those "other networks" you refer to just weren't willing to agree with McAwful when he said that Hillary was in the lead, is all.

21. He was a mixed bag in terms of what he brought the party
He raised a lot of money for the Democrats - especially in 1996 closing the gap with the Republicans. The negative is that he did cut some ethical corners that hurt our reputation - and was a factor than hurt Gore. However, in 2004, with the Kerry people setting standards there were no ethics issues that surfaced.

He also is an upbeat, charismatic person on TV when advocating for Democratic issues. I was not for HRC, but he did serve her better than Wolfson or Penn. (I still hold his book against him though.)

28. Mixed nuts are the best.
He just wasn't on the winning team this spring, is all.

I think he will work hard from here on for Obama though.
I don't think he wants McCain in office anymore than the rest of us.

5. "Stay" relevant? LOLOL!!
When the hell was "Lanny" Davis ever relevant.

This is just the kind of spineless weak sister Dem that Fox noise loves to put forth as an example of how Dems think. Then they'll tear him apart and he won't even fight back.

6. This is what I was worried about
that even if hillary conceded, several of her surrogates would still be populating the airwaves with points that can be seen by many as having the effect of propping up McCain...we'll see what happens

12. Lanny Davis surprised to me during the primary at how "upset" he was over the entire process.
He always struck me as the calm one during the impeachment process.

I've read what his role was after Liebermann did his thing.

I gave him a certain wide latitude during the primary even though his outrage aggravated me. Now, I'm not sure what to think. He is a different level than I am personally and maybe this is what people in his stratosphere do.

Davis is doing this to make inroads FOR Hillary in the Fox viewers and AGAINST Obama.

20. Lanny Davis was heavily tied to the 2006 Lieberman campaign
He is an enabler of right wing talking points.

The real Fox News Democrats: http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2007/04/03/fox_news_democrats/index.html

Discribes how faux uses 'scary liberals' to make viewers scared of democrats,'enablers' who promote right wing talking points or 'losers' the strategists and politicians who are no longer players in the Democratic Party, at least partially because of their electoral failures. There's former vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro, who also twice failed to win election to the U.S. Senate, and Susan Estrich.............

Good article which explains how Faux news uses Faux News Democrats.

31. Most Democrats that went over to FOX only did so
after MSNBC became the unofficial Obama network. Tweety's tingling leg and Olbermann's over the top diatribes against Hillary were enough to drive off many of her supporters. I stopped watching that sorry excuse of a news network months ago and so have many other people.
