Obama/Gore: Solving the Climate Crisis with an Energy Plan for a New Age.
I have a suspicion that Al Gore is going to do more than Endorse Obama tonight. Al Gore is the person to lead us into a new age to deliver us an Energy Plan that both frees us from the chains of Oil as well as solve many problems with Climate Crisis. If Gore is not going to be the V.P., he will be the head of a new department created by Obama that will make solving the Energy and Climate Crisis the Apollo Project of our lifetime.

Finding alternative, sustainable and renewable sources of Energy is crucial to so many conflicts and issues with this country and, more generally, the World.

The demand of Energy is driving us into division of wealth and resources, wars, security issues, all while destroying the environment of the world we live in. The next president needs Al Gore to lead this charge. Can the President do it himself? Can Obama? Certainly. But not alone. Not with all the problems we currently have, both with domestic and foreign issues. Al Gore is the person to solve the energy problem. Obama will be the President that provides the vision and the mission. He will also lead the way to restoring respect for our Country and its government, both from within and from without. But Obama can not do all this alone. And he needs extremely strong players to make it all happen. Al Gore is one of them, who is uniquely equipped to solve the energy and climate crises.

John Edwards is another strong player who has a great vision for solving the division of wealth and combatting poverty. I can see Edwards playing a crucial role in restoring America as the beacon of hope for all.

Bill Richardson is another strong player, who understands the kind of diplomacy America will need given our current place and world perception of America.

And there are many other Democratic players who are incredibly strong in their areas that would be great choices for Obama.

But Gore is a keystone. Much of the policy that will be developed in the next Administration will be developed around energy. And it should be no surprise. The last administration's policies were all shaped around energy too: how to use the limited resources we have to make the wealthy even wealthier while using the poor to get us there. What Gore brings to the table is a path through energy policy that will restore the destruction wrought by the GOP energy policies.

1. Gore won't be Obama's VP and Gore emphatically said last year
on Larry King's show that he would not accept a spot in a Dem President's cabinet. He will work from outside the White House to pressure Congress and the White House to be more aggressive about dealing with Global Warming.

2. I think that Gore really likes the independence that position gives him
The person with that role in Obama's cabinet will be constrained by what they can push Congress to do. That will likely be less than really needed - but important to get it started. Gore would be the force that allows that person to get more, because outside government, he could be getting people to demand that their representatives do more. Gore, unlike people still in office has spoken of the fact that there will be sacrifices. He doesn't have to worry that he will not keep people happy enough with the plans he proposes.

4. Powerful contrast to Cheney's secret meetings with oil
execs as his energy task force.

Even if Gore does not take a formal position in government, just that he clearly is working closely with Obama bodes well in this area for a return to transparent, forward thinking solutions.
