Re-Heat Offender: Cindy Bakes Another Whopper (Trollop McCain Plagiarizes ANOTHER Recipe)

Re-Heat Offender: Cindy Bakes Another Whopper

Here we go again. Just two months after we broke Recipegate comes news that Cindy McCain is up to her old tricks. The July 2008 issue of Family Circle featured an article in which each (it went to press before Hillary conceded) of the presidential candidates' significant submitted a cookie recipe. A tipster caught a whiff of something besides sugar after reviewing Cindy McCain's Oatmeal-Butterscotch cookies, and quickly found the original recipe at Hersheys.com (see image below). While McCain, or that same low-level staffer, managed to take the time to switch a few minor details in her version of the recipe this time around, there is no doubt that the recipes are the same.

While Bill Clinton gives credit to the family cook, and Michelle Obama to the godmother of her daughters, Cindy McCain attributes her cookie recipe to "a good friend."

Unless John McCain was a childhood friend of Milton S. Hershey or her beer baron family worked with him on a chocolate beer bar back in the day, it seems Cindy is a plagiarist of the most delicious kind. Again.

Let's hope I don't get another unpaid intern fired this time around...

See for yourself:

2. what is a Trollp?
Also: the article in question says to share their "favorite cookie recipe" If I was asked that question, I would have to give the hershey's chocolate chip cookie recipe. No where does is suggest that it is an original recipe. Indeed, who here actually makes up their own recipes?

I think we should lay off spouses of candidates. They did it with Theresa Heines-Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and it was ugly. We should not do it to any campaign spouse (even if we disagree with them).

14. "trollop"
is an archaic term for a woman of loose morals.

The recipe appears to have been passed of as her own recipe, ergo...

The GOP has already said that Obama's wife is fair game, so Cindy McCain has to be also...and she's got some real skeletons in her closet.

17. I don't think Michelle Obama should be attacked either.
Politician's spouses should be off limits/

24. It's not entirely inaccurate, however.
She dated McCain while he was still married to his first wife. But basically I agree with you; if we're going to talk about her, we should stick to what she's done and did, not just call her names.

25. actually, her husband was the one who gave her the name
he called her other names as well.

it is not progressive to defend a dirty repuke bastard.

20. McCain called her a “trollop” himself, as well as the “c” word in public...
...which is why “trollop” is used here to highlight his way with women, in spite of certain idiots championing his hypocritical “reaching out” to them.

His name-calling tirade against Cindy was big news a few weeks ago.

or a "progressive." I had not heard the "trollop" reference by McCain--do you have the link?

22. Um yeah...
Several.

Here: http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/4/7/19555/14030

And here: http://www.alternet.org/blogs/peek/81588/

It's featured in the new book “The Real McCain” and the story was ALL OVER the news a few weeks ago. The word is used here as a dig against McCain's touted feminist bona-fides championed here by the idiot griefers who are so filled with hate that they while calling themselves Dems, want McCain in as opposed to Obama. Lots of 'em are pals of yours.

But then...you knew that already. :)

7. You're entitled to your opinion

You do realize that the repubs are going after Michelle Obama, don't you? You are aware of the law of glass houses aren't you?

If the MSM is going to waste our time on preachers and lapel pins, I say we give them meat from both sides of the aisle.

10. No problem
Personally, I think a woman a wealthy as Ms. Mcain would hire people clever enough to avoid copying recipes off the back of a pack of butterscotch chips. Especially when that same woman has already been caught lifting recipes from Rachel Ray.

A presidential campaign is an insight into how a candidate will run this country. If McSame is going to market his wife as some sort of June Cleaver clone, while avoiding the horrid things GOP operatives have and will say about Michelle Obama, then I got no problem with cookiegate.

... but I think I will exercise some restraint and keep it to myself.

5. I have to really wonder what is wrong with these people.
Why doesn't Cindy McCain just come out and admit that she doesn't know how to boil an egg? That would go over better than coming off like a fraud.

I actually find the whole "recipe" thing rather offensive. Who gives a shit what they cook.

16. Hershey the Dog is mad
My dog's name is Hershey, and he feels ripped off by Cindy McCain. He has a Facebook page, and he used it to call her out this morning.

One DUer made a good point though...if her recipe wins, my dog should be entitled to compensation. What do you guys think? Would you support taking money from the McCain campaign coffers to compensate this sweet pup, who just had eye surgery and may have a relapse?
