One thing about Dem First Ladies vs. Repub First Ladies.
First Lady Hillary Clinton emblazoned herself as an equal partner in her husband's administration. She worked with him to craft his positions

Teresa Heinz Kerry is willing to attack her husband's detractors. She never took their vitriol lying down.

First Lady Michelle Obama is an intelligent woman who is willing to speak her values and help her husband with his campaign. She earned her bachelors and PH.d., and made herself her own woman before marrying Obama.

On the Repub side:

First Lady Laura Bush has been a subservient lady, avoiding the politics atmosphere and simply saying "I support Bush."

First Lady Nancy Reagan never fought any intellectual struggles. She simply was a kind, compassionate face trotted out to remind the country that Reagan had married an honest, loving woman.

John McCain divorced his first wife and married a much younger woman, and now, she is acting sheepishly.

I'm curious. Which would you want your daughter looking up to?

1. One wee disagreement
Nancy was most absolutely involved in policy. The First Lady Act was just a show.

3. Another point
Eleanor Roosevelt. I'd much rather have my (if I ever have kids) daughter look up to Mrs. Roosevelt, Mrs. Clinton, Mrs. Kerry and Mrs. Obama than Laura or Nancy, and especially Cindy.

4. The truth is, repugnantcans like subservient women...
it's a mind set. Keep 'em under foot, where they belong. It sickens me.

5. Not all Republican First Ladies were Stepford wives.
I like Betty Ford. She always spoke her mind, even if it got her husband in trouble.
