Why did MSNBC cut Obama off tonight straight after Gore's speech?
seemed rather strange. Gore just finished his speech and then Obama came on. You could see him but they turned the sound down so that the TV people could have their say. Why didn't they wait til Obama finished. After all it was Obama who was being endorsed!

1. Because three and a half straight days of mourning Timmeh just ain't enough, damn it!!111!!!
Nothing matters anymore. Not the election. Not the economy. Not the dumbest motherfucker to ever dwell in the White House planning to nuke Iran. It all means nothing as long as Timmeh's dead!!!!1!!!1111!!

2. It was Abram's program and he and his producer were in charge of
the content I would assume. I don't know why they think we wanted to listen to them and not Obama. I have sent them a rather huffy email about it.

I'll watch it on his website later on or tomorrow. I did catch a speech Obama gave earlier today on C-Span. It was great! :)

6. Because he's pulling away from the Maverick.
Obama's jetting off toward the Presidency and McCain's putting another one into the drink.

9. Of course Abrams needed all of his time to stump for Hillary as Barack's VP....
Of all talking-heads, he has yet to 'let-go' from the Hillary apron-strings.

(yeah, go ahead and flame over the 'apron' thing...make my day!)

15. Because THE endorsement was THE NEWS
giving a campaign speech is just SOP. If you want Obama's speech turn on CSPAN.

I think they should've of at least had his opening statement. I don't agree with them cutting him off I just see how they reasoned it out. :-(

20. If you've noticed...?
They were giving him all sorts of air time when he was running against Hillary, but now, they are cutting him off and showing more "selective" clips since he is running against McCain? Or does it just seem that way to me??

23. More annoying was Abrams not cutting to Gore quickly enough...
I swore off MSNBC for this week, but wanted to watch Gore's endorsement. After the frustration of wanting to hear the crowd's reaction to Gore entering the venue, and getting nothing but blah-blah-blah Abrams, I switched to --GAG--CNN, where they WERE covering Gore's walking to the podium.

For some people, the entry of Gore/Obama might not mean much, but for me, experiencing the crowd's reaction is part of the high I get from political speeches.

There was no reason for Abrams to hog the screen when Gore/Obama were there. None.

Unfortunately, both CNN and MSNBC stopped covering it after Gore was finished. Again, I can see no reason for this. Gore's endorsement is a truly momentous occasion. It's clear that Gore was enthusiastic and empowered by the process. I don't think I've ever heard Gore speak that well and that powerfully, and I've seen the majority--if not all--of his speeches. We needed to see Obama's follow-up. That was part of the occasion, and I feel we were short-changed by MSNBC and CNN ignoring Obama's speech.

I'll search for it on You-Tube later today, but it won't be the same as when it was actually occurring live.

For all the media pundits' comments about John McCain being clueless about the importance of YouTube, I think MSNBC and CNN are also clueless about the impact YouTube can have on their venues. If they are going to continue with such clueless coverage of important political events, I won't even bother trying to watch it on their stations, and will just pick it up on YouTube.

I think the MSM has lost connection with what is important to the viewers. I can watch Abrams or Larry King do their dog-and-pony show five days of the week. The are always the same, and if I go months without seeing them, I don't think I've lost much.

But, for gawd's sake, Gore's endorsement of Obama was a momentous occasion, and both MSNBC and CNN totally blew the coverage of it (MSNBC actually worse than CNN).

25. Abrams just couldn't stop talking to let us watch Obama and Gore enter
As if a couple of minutes of applause would've been a ratings killer. As Obama and Gore are going on stage, Abrams gets David Corn to talk for a few minutes. After that, the idiot from the Sun Times feels she has to chime in again. At least at that point, somebody in the booth must've put in their ears that they all need to shut the fuck up.

27. I'm glad you noticed it, too. I think the media are disconnected...
from what viewers want to see.

Abrams must be either an egomaniacal fool or delusional if he thinks that viewers would rather watch him and his pundits when we could watch such an uplifting, important occasion.

Plus they hate it when candidates go off on their stump speeches. It's like those are only allowed to be broadcast on C-SPAN.
