Please, sign the Million For Marriage petition
Support Marriage Equality for ALL!
When the California Supreme Court ruled that denying same-sex couples the right to marry is unconstitutional, we came one step closer to achieving true marriage equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender Americans. But we need your help to defend this progress—anti-GLBT groups, emboldened by the decision, are now working to deny benefits to GLBT couples on both state and federal levels.

Please, sign the Million For Marriage petition below, and be a part of this historic civil rights battle. Gay, straight, married, single...we need everyone who believes in marriage equality to stand up NOW—before it's too late!

Our new goal: 1.1 million signatures

2. I, for one, am against this (gay marriage)

Hear me out....

Marriage is a religous/spiritual designation of a relationship. Why should a government recognize it at all? Why should non spiritual people be forced to enter into a "marriage" to recieve domestic partner benifits? Why is government legislating who is and is not allowed to partake in a religous/spiritual ceremony?

I think we should abolish all state recognition of "Marriage" (gay/straight/hermaphrodite/etc). Lets simply use "Domestic Partnerships", open to anyone at all. Let the individual church's decide if they wish to ratify a "Domestic Partnership" via a marriage ceremony. Everyone could still do "Marriage" ceremonies, but they are largley symbolic from this point forward.

Here is the benifit...you now allow everyone equal protection under the law. The state no longer legislates a religous ceremony (on either side). The right wingers now cannot claim their sacred definition of a man and woman marriage is being infringed upon. No one is prohibited from any kind of "marriage" (though its symbolic) who wants one (though they must find a church who will perform it).

Is this not a more sensible approach? Yes...abolish marriage.
