If the election is a blowout, it would just confirm beyond a doubt that the media was complicit in Bush criminality, and with McCain, the media darling, tied to Bush, it would all reflect on them rather poorly. In their attempts to be "fair and balanced", they've had a hand in driving this country in the wrong direction.

Media heads in Rwanda were brought up on charges for their complicity, perhaps self-preservation is their motive. After all, no one wants their head on a pike.

not so much that McCain IS bush (just to be extreme, he's not a DNA duplicate heheh) but that he's similar enough on enough issues, that many americans would not find it to be in their best long term interests to vote for him. I think the voters are ready for this kind of nuance, and there's relatively less for bush to point out to defend himself against it.
