MSNBC should DUMP JOE Scarborough asap!
Morning Joe was actually intelligent and watchable while he was away ~ it's once again worthless!

Anyone agree???

10. The Republicans, therefore the corporate owners and advertisers.
Media 101--since deregulation, the media is owned by a handful of multi-national corporations who use their media departments to advertise for their parent corporation's interests, as well as the interests of their corporate sponsors. IIRC, Joe is on MSNBC, who is owned by GE, which was run by Jack Welsh, who campaigned aggressively for George Bush. GE, of course, is a large defense contractor who received Brazilians in tax cuts under Bush's plan.

So, Joe gets an extension.

And you've heard of the dead girl in his office, I hope?

22. I don't think he killed her.
She was found dead in his Florida office, shortly after Joe announced he was retiring from Congress and divorcing his wife amid allegations of an affair. The coroner and police chief announced that there were no signs of injury, and an autopsy would be performed. Meanwhile, the media began reporting that she had a history of heart problems and seizures. Her family quickly denied these rumors, saying she was in fact a runner who competed in marathons, and Joe came out and asked the media to stop reporting that, and criticized them for reporting rumors. The media then announced that Joe was the source of the rumors--he denied this, of course.

Soon after, the autopsy showed that she had died when a heart arrhythmia had caused her to faint and strike her head on the side of a desk hard enough to smash her brain against the opposite side of her skull, and as she lay for hours dying, a foam cone formed around her lips. When asked how she could have received such a blow without there being obvious signs of trauma to the body, the coroner proudly declared that the trauma was obvious, but they had lied about them, because they didn't want people asking a lot of questions about a dead woman with a head injury in a Congressman's office.

Turns out the coroner had been fired and had his license revoked in another state for lying on autopsies, specifically about head injuries.

I doubt Scarborough had her killed (he was in DC, so he didn't do it). Her family has not (that I've heard) blamed him. But there is no doubt that Scarborough interfered, got officials to lie, and spread false rumors to cover up any suspicion that he was involved. And despite fierce local coverage of a dead woman in a US Congresscritter's office, and intense national media at the exact same time of a missing intern for a Democratic Congresscritter (Gary Conditt/Chandra Levy), the national media never once reported the story, and apparently replied to all questions that they thought it was a non-story (despite ruining Condit's career over far less incriminating evidence).

And then there's the bigger question: was she murdered? The coroner's claim is that a healthy runner fainted, fell against a desk from less than 3' (she was about 5'8", the desk was three feet high) with enough force to kill her. Maybe that's true. Or maybe there was a murder, but the local officials and Joe decided Joe's reputation was more important, and did a cover up to protect him, letting a real murderer go free. We'll never know, because they don't think we have a right to know.

Ah, a walk down memory lane.

35. He did more than correct her...

...at the end of the interview, with only Joe asking the questions, she finally asked him, "How did I do?"

He said, "You did very well. You were quiet."

For anyone else, that would have been terribly disrespectful. For her, it was spot on. I can't stand her.

It's sad that Mika seems afraid of her own father ~ I've met him a few times and he was always very polite towards me, but it makes me wonder if he was an extremely demanding parent.

In any case, Mika doesn't deserve to be dissed by any of those guys.

12. I agree
I happen to have insomnia last night and watched part of the show this morning and was disgusted at how he seems to stop and explain to Mika what he's talking about, as if she is a student and she can't grasp it on her own. I would be smacking him upside the head or kicking him under the desk if he pulled that with me. He's demeaning towards her to say the least.

15. and they are considering him to replace Russert for MTP
as well as Andrea Mitchell, David Gregory, and Keith Olbermann. But Joke Scumborough would be terrible as a replacement. They should move Mika out of Morning Joke and have Rachel Maddow co-host with Scumborough and then you would see Morning Joe become Morning Fireworks!!

16. No, you're mistaken. NBC is not considering any "cable personalities" to take
over MTP.

http://www.newser.com/story/30127.html

Newser) – Early word on Tim Russert's Meet the Press successor focused on in-house candidates, like Chris Matthews, David Gregory, or Joe Scarborough. But one insider now tells Variety that there’s “no way” a cable personality will land the gig. NBC’s broadcast division would rather stay “pristine”—free from the punditry that hovers around MSNBC.

Of the three, former correspondent Gregory is seen as having the best shot, because he earned his reputation on network news, and hasn’t been in the cable game long. It will in any case be hard to fill Russert’s shoes—as other networks' attempts to catch him in the ratings have shown. Russert's closest competitor, ABC's George Stephanopoulos, trailed him by an average 1 million viewers.

41. God no. He's a twit.

I don't understand it. Russert asked *everyone* tough questions, and many people on this board slammed him. (No, he didn't let Bush off the hook. I watched that interview replayed over the weekend, and Bush needed to change his undershorts afterward. It was the toughest interview I've ever seen him subjected to.)

David Gregory is an arrogant narcissist, who really *does* seem to show he's coming from the right. But mostly, he shows that he thinks he's hot shit.

Joe shouldn't even be considered, because he isn't just on the right, he's *of* the right. Brokaw could do it temporarily, but I don't see anyone currently working there who could run that show correctly. They need to bring in someone new.

30. Thank gawd. Meet the Press is dead to me now. I don't care who gets that job.
I'm sick of hearing the MSM spin this shit about Bush being a nice guy, a great guy to have a beer with - as if that is how Presidents are supposed to be chosen - and that the Iraq war was started because of "group think".

No, it was a fucking conspiracy to overtake the region in the Middle East and it was promoted by the neocons even before Bush was in office and is known as the PNAC plan.

But, no one, not even Keith Olbermann, talks about the PNAC plan on fucking television.

And then those asshats wonder why we turned to the internet to get our news and find out what the fuck was really going on!!!

If it weren't for people on forums like DU, I wouldn't have a fucking clue what happened in the White House for the last 8 years - the MSM hardly even criticizes Bush. It's ridiculous.

29. I don't think that he killed the intern or aide or whoever she was (as far as I know....)
but didn't he joke about her on the Imus radio show once? Or was he just trying to get a jab in at Bill Clinton? I don't get Joe's humor, so I don't know, but I read that Imus asked why he left Congress and Joe started laughing and said "Because I had sex with an intern" (which people read as a reference to the girl who died. I don't know).

Yeah, it's very uncomfortable watching him demean Mika, because lots of times, he isn't just joking around but gets visibly PISSED and looks kind of...scary? He gets the same look when he tries to argue with Rachel. His eyes become slits and he starts talking in the most condescending voice ever.

The last time I watched that movie on tv, I pictured him on the boat, screaming "Laurrraaaaa". Haha. I feel badly for him in that his son has autism and his wife is having pregnancy complications...I am a full advocate of him taking as muchhhhhh time as he needs off from the show to spend time with them.

Mika was laughing too and it was quick , but it still kind of makes me shudder whenever he does that.

and this is what really angers me about him they will never put anyone on there who will challenge him to the max. I loved it on the day he left the set because he was angry with Rachel because she matched him point for point.

He really reminds of " Do it live!Do it live! I would love to see him and O'lielly going at it especially on something that they feel strongly about...
