Obama's Campaign symbolizes disruptive change. But to win in Nov. CAUTION IS THE ORDER OF THE DAY.
Let us assume that, in the real world, the threat of radical political change by an Obama Presidency would result in effective action by global corporate forces to prevent political victory.

Then to forestall such action, Obama must, on the one hand, present himself, to the degree possible, as sharing MAINSTREAM economic and foreign policy goals. The progressive left must accept this immovable reality.

On the other hand, Obama must act in his V.P. pick to reduce the risk and the fallout from the most likely avenue of attack on his candidacy – a major national security incident. His pick will be the single most important signal to the electorate and the Vice President will be the only other person that matters to voters in the campaign.

Barack Obama is highly constrained as to both policy and action in the upcoming campaign. Symbols may loom large, but caution is the order of the day. Please let’s not ask out nominee to commit political suicide.

1. your concern is noted. However, I don't think playing it safe would have gotten him this far
Go big or go home.

my favorite motto.

2. Well, his stance on Iraq is slowly moving away from immediate withdrawl
Not up to 100 years, but certainly moving.

3. Delicacy is five minutes ago. He's been aggressive throughout the campaign and he'll do well to stay
that way.

His opponent is 2 laps behind already. I'm not concerned.

4. It does?
Wow, and all along I thought Obama was a cautious centrist Democrat proposing only a change from the corrupt incompetent radical rightwing idiocy of the last eight years to a return to a more normal centrist regime. Now he is a disruptor?

Do you even have a clue where Obama stands on economic and foreign policy? Better yet, what exactly do you think these

MAINSTREAM

policy goals are that he should adopt?

8. His positions ARE MAINSTREAM. You agree with me. They should be, regardless of the sybolism of
grass-roots movement, a black man in the whitehouse, and worldwide support for an Obama victory.

12. Disruptive Radical Forces Prevent Immovable Reality Risk Fallout...

Major National Security Incident Constrained Loom Caution Suicide.....

Could you just be anymore gloomy? Geez, here I've been thinking what a great campaign Obama has run, he's ahead of mccain in the polls, he's done everything right so far and I completely trust his decisions. You, however, are somehow convinced nothing but doom and gloom is coming our way unless he "pretends" to be MAINSTREAM. I don't get it, I just don't get it, but I guess sometimes, it's best just not to even try.
