This is the kind of garbage that an associate at work threw at me, but I quickly pointed to him that his right wing hate source was a MISQUOTE taken out of context

The actual quote from the book is from page 261 and is as follows: "Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. It is about Japanese American citizens who were interned during WWII.

An American Citizen IS AN AMERICAN. The American citizens who were Japanese during world war II had property taken away from them, and were put in internment camps

They are obviously very worried about the election, but with the amount of damage that the republicans have done the past 8 years, along with the number of Americans hurting because of that damage, they should be worried. The era of the neocons and PNACers is coming to an end

When I hit "reply to all" with the truth, including page number and full context of the actual passage from Obama's book, I was called "a bigot" by return email.

Still haven't figured out how refuting a lie and telling the truth makes a person a bigot....

There are many things in our favor though

People are actually being hurt because of the bush policies, and mccain is an extension of those policies

Essentially the last eight years have been controlled by the republicans, and even though many Democrats were not particularly courageous, it was the republicans show

Barr and Paul will hurt the mccain run

The Democrats are more united this time then they have ever been. The opposite is the situation with the republicans

It is still important to refute the lies, until the truth is expossed through the MSM

I included in my "reply to all" that we (Democrats) will NOT sit still for lies and smears, but will refute every one, so they (GOP) would do well to start paying attention to facts and lay off the childish smear tactics.

I haven't heard anything since I asked for the sender's definition of "bigot," stating that, "I've been quite unable to find a definition of "bigoted" that includes "insisting on the truth;" "against lies and slander;" "upholding the 9th Commandment." (I included the last because the original sender is a militaristic Christian fundamentalist/dominionist, as are virtually all of her friends.)

I haven't heard from anyone on that email list since, except for the lone stranger who emailed to thank me. For those who will continue circulating the lies, I suspect that their email lists will get shorter and shorter, excluding anyone who challenges them.

Obama's "Fight the Smears" site is a wonderful tool for us. It will reduce the emailers to a much smaller number of those who insist on remaining shuttered from reality -- probably indistinguishable from BushCorp's rabidly loyal shrinking minority.

22. Another post added to the bookmark list

I've been bookmarking ammo posts for the coming nastiness on message boards, lists, etc. I have an ever growing arsenal of quotes, information and stats to back up many different items that will come up as we progress into the crazy season. I am ready to be a warrior and I encourage everyone to do the same. I'm not gonna let these crazies take over the boards with misinformation this time. We saw it all last time and I for one plan on many a battle, on the boards, emails etc. The stakes are much too high, I have 2 sons, 14 and 12 and they will forever be in my minds eye as I wage the battle. They will keep me more than motivated!
