Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama at a campaign stop in Grantham, Pa., in April. Next week, they'll be reunited publicly for the first time since she dropped her presidential bid.
Hillary Clinton will join Barack Obama for a joint appearance in Washington next week to persuade her donors to begin giving to the Democrats' nominee, the Daily News has learned.

It's the first known plan to bring together the victor and vanquished from the Democrat primary race and put their pledges of unity for the fall campaign into action.

Jonathan Mantz, Clinton's national finance director, sent top Clinton fundraisers an e-mail today inviting them to the event on June 26.

"As we move forward, we invite you to join us for a National Finance Committee meeting with both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama on Thursday, June 26th in Washington, D.C., to discuss how we can work together to support Barack Obama and the Democratic Party," Mantz wrote.

"Hillary ran for President because she wants to put this country on the right track," Mantz wrote. "She continues to fight and stand strong for our values and priorities and will do everything she can to unify the party and to elect Barack Obama the next President of the United States."

As part of the effort, Mantz wrote, the Clinton campaign is encourage its supporters to contribute $2,300 to Obama's campaign.

Clinton, Obama to Meet with Her Top Fundraisers
By Anne E. Kornblut
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has scheduled her first joint appearance with Sen. Barack Obama since the end of the nomination fight, officials from both camps confirmed late Tuesday.

Clinton has invited her finance committee members -- read: top fundraisers -- to a June 26 meeting in Washington, they said. It is unclear when Clinton will make her debut appearance in public, solo or with Obama, since exiting the race; she has been on vacation since then. But her finance director Jonathan Mantz has reportedly been working overtime to make the donor transition happen.

13. I wrote when she gave the concession speech that...
...it was the right move not to make that a joint appearance, because then their first joint appearance since would be news.

And it is.

18. McCain saying nice supportive things about Clinton
the blather has been about whether or not Obama could gather in the Clinton supporters - mainly women.

McCain didn't waste any time and is attempting to "woo" this group. I heard that he even has a forum/discussion group specifically dedicated to women who support Clinton.

A woman at my workplace told me the other day that she is going to vote for McCain because he's said so many nice things about Clinton, showed her respect etc.

I launched into a litany of mccain's record regarding women's issues, didn't make a difference to her.

then I asked her "If Clinton were the nominee and was running against McCain - do you think McCain would be saying all these 'nice' things?"

the response was "uhhh, no"

me: "then isn't obvious that all mccain is doing is pandering, telling you what you want to hear?"

26. donors want OBAMA to help pay Clinton debt
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080618/ap_on_el_pr/clinton_obama_meeting

From the AP story about the meeting:

"Two people closely involved with Clinton's fundraising said the meeting had taken on added urgency after several of her money "bundlers" complained that they felt their concerns weren't heard during meetings last week with Obama campaign officials in New York and Washington.

Both individuals spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the meeting.

Among other things, the donors want to make sure Obama knows that in order to get their help he needs to help Clinton pay down her campaign debt."

Just more Clinton demands upon Obama.

Nothing to thank Clinton for here.
