I don't buy that McCain will be replaced as the nominee. |
|
I mean, who the fuck will replace him? Yeah, the repukes have a shitty nominee, but all their possible nominees had huge image problems and/or problems with the base.
C'mon. Who would replace McCain who would have a better shot than he has?
Mittens?
Condi?
Jebby?

1. Whats a image problem to a republicon? |
|
An opportunity
No republicon has ever let an image problem stop him from deceiving the voters by smearing his candidate and dismissing all the facts about his own image.

4. Who would want to take his place? |

Lets face it the GOP is a lost cause this year. They need to lie low for a while and hope the memory of * will fade with time.

6. It would have to be someone with name recognition, |

without being a booshie. No condi, jeb, or any of those.
And, no one else has the name and fundraising to come in late and stop Obama rise.

7. They chose him because he's the only repuke with a chance to win |
|
He doesn't fire up the base. He's old and not a great speaker. But he's one of the few moderate republicans left and wasn't directly part of the administration. Someone like Huckabee would get crushed because he's just like Bush. McCain is to the left of Bush on things like the environment and he used to be on reproductive rights. In another year where the GOP wasn't such a poisoned brand, McCain wouldn't have won the nomination, I don't think. Giuliani was similar except he had too many personal issues like several divorces to be viable.
So replacing him would go against the reasons he won the primary, and it seems very unlikely unless he has a big health problem in the next few months.

12. I hope they don't replace him |
|
But then again, he's pretty damn frail and looking weaker by the day. In my opinion, Dole was better off in 96' then McCain is this year healthwise.
If he were to be replaced, my guess is Romney or Huckabee (or a combination of the two on a ticket).

13. I'm sure they'd replace him in a heartbeat |
|
I think the problem is, they don't have a decent candidate that isn't completely tied to this administration. Every other potential candidate has been caught up in scandal or voted out of office prematurely like Santorum.
They're stuck with him, like it or not. And they hate him. He'll have a hell of a time going after Obama when his own species is already cannibalizing him on TV night after night. I usually don't make predictions, but I don't think this election is going to be remotely close in the electoral college. He's weak, he's a flip flopper, he's not a religious zealot, and he's not a true fiscal conservative.
And then there's Bob Barr...
The Democratic Party's minor issue with unification pales in comparison to the uphill battle Mc-I-Think-I-Shit-My-Pants-Again must overcome even to just be viable.
