Obama to meet women's, black caucuses

The Swamp

by Christi Parsons

As he works to build his coalition for the fall campaigns, Barack Obama plans to meet privately with the Congressional Black Caucus and the Democratic women of Congress tomorrow.

The Democratic presidential candidate is spending a couple of power-meeting days in Washington, convening not just with new policy advisors and labor leaders but also with lawmakers who could help him win this fall.

Obama reached out to the women's caucus by phone and email, inviting them to meet him at the Democratic National Committee building at lunchtime tomorrow. It's not clear what role Sen. Hillary Clinton may play in that meeting, but she is planning to appear with Obama next week at a confab with her national fundraisers.

1. I am a bit troubled by this- These groups should be reaching out to Obama
to see how they can help get him elected (since his policies are superior to McCains in every way). It just strikes me as a bad omen that Obama has to work this hard to get support from groups that should be a given.

3. Stop overthinking it.
Obama's the one with the massively packed presidential campaign schedule, he's going to be the one deciding when and where he wants to meet different groups. He decides, he sends the invites, they show up. There's nothing concerning in any of this.

6. So far, I see very little to worry about in how the campaign is being handled.
You make a good point.
