My Name is David Zephyr. I Am Completely Smitten With the Obamas!
First of all happy weekend.

I have never felt so proud about a candidate since Bobby Kennedy.

We, as Democrats, are blessed to have such a candidate now poised to walk right into the White House and begin working for the change we have all hoped for and struggled for a very long time.

He is brilliant. He is articulate. He is courageous. And he will make us all very, very proud.

And I will defend him here, so apologies offered in advance.

Is it just me, or are there any others who are totally smitten with Barack and Michelle?

2. Being smitten has always gotten me in to trouble.
I won't expand on that - the particulars are quite sordid.

On the other hand, my positive feelings about Obama have grown over time and I am very committed to getting him elected. This kind of relationship has always worked out better for me.

3. I am looking forward to them being in the White House......
certainly.

It would be disgustingly depressing if it didn't come to pass. But we have a big fight on our hands against our corporate media. They aren't gonna just let it happen.

4. I am an unmarried black woman who used to believe that there's no hope for me finding true love...
Edited on Fri Jun-20-08 08:31 PM by Liberal_Stalwart71
The Obamas give me hope that exists somewhere out there; it just hasn't found me yet but it will.

That's what the Obamas do for me. They are totally in love, a beautiful family, and one that will bring such a bright light into the White House.

I really cannot fathom why people could dislike Michelle or Barack so much. Some of the hatred saddens me deeply.

6. Don't be sadden, be resolved.
I'm looking to put together a large group of folks that want to fight the media so that we can start hitting back on them and their distortions via letters and phone calls.

Maybe it is something you'll want to do?

9. Beautiful post!
I felt the same as you did for a long time. I was inspired by couples who had been given the gift of true love. It does not work for everyone, but eharmony led me to the very thing I never thought I would have.

19. I think they are beautiful and i think they make home wherever they
are. God bless and protect them and help Barack find the wisdom to get us out of our national depression. As for the haters, may God have mercy on them, the sad sorry dolts.

8. Me too!
I came late to his campaign but the more I see of Barack and Michelle the more I like them.
It's not just that he is my choice over McCain (obviously) but there are extras with his candidacy.
He calls upon all of us to make this a better country - yeah!
He calls upon us to be better people - yeah!

He could be the first African-American president which means so much - not the least of which is that our country really has grown and changed since my youth. A ceiling would be lifted for so many.

I think that they are both examples of people who have made good decisions in their lives.

I think Michelle is the new Jackie (class and style) - only more accessible.

I'm smitten too!

18. I feel much the same.
after what seems like an eternity of piracy by the highest ups it would be wonderful to have someone in office to respect and trust and look up to.
maybe there is something to this ying and yang - things must balance out and the Obamas are here to offset all those horrible years.

23. Hell, I am too cynical. I was smitten with RFK and MLK. I will work my butt off to make him Prez.
That's what it's all about.

Smitten is for those who don't remember JFK getting his head blown off, or W. promising "compassionate conservatism."

That said, they are a wonderful family.

24. Migod! What is he Doing to that little girl's Face!!!
oops, sorry, I'm just so used to seeing the Media profile Bush and The Pill Lady that I've lost all moorings to what Real Love and affection LOOK Like..

I thought he was Gnawing at her face.. Like after the Pretzel Incident, when Bush said he woke up to dogs licking his face, for the salt I'd bet :)

Not since RFK and his brothers (some Carter but he was more Reserved) have we seen Mutual Respect and Admiration, which my dear old dead Dad used to claim was the basis of Love..

It will be a Joy to see these kids giving the SS a run for their money in the White House :)

LIFE in the White House again, think of it, True Honor restored, and about goddam time..

Yep, I'm smitten as hell, and any way I have to, I will defend these great examples of familial bliss..

More pics please :)

29. Lol
I really think the media has warped people to an extent, but in the gut it never adds up, in the end folks recognize the Real Thang when they see it..

Like the Dap Michelle gave him when he became the Candidate, my heart soared at the equality between them, a TEAM, not like the Wife-beater and his Xanax riddled co-dependant..

Yeah, I'll knock it off, when we WIN! :)

Another soaring heart here. That is until I learned about the "terrorist plot" that was being hatched in the process. ;)

Loved your post, thanks for the chuckles.

27. Breaking: Limbaugh and Coulter love their kids even more.
Oh, that's right: Three times divorced and never married HAVE no kids, while they lecture Barack, Michelle and the rest of us on "family values."

No offense to those here without kids. Or families. Just note: You don't lecture us. They do.

30. Call me smitten, too. I think Barack is just the right person
for this time, just honest and committed and concerned about the right issues, to do the right things, and I think Michelle is just so confident and intelligent and has her own remarkable style, and I really think she is a force to be reckoned with and I love that, and I dearly love the idea of those little girls playing in our White House--I do like the idea of this being our First Family. I wish them the absolute best. And they've even got me fashioning run-on sentences, so you know I mean it.
