Hey, gang... Even if Obama manages to get the retroactive immunity provision removed from the upcoming FISA vote, this bill is barely palatable. Let him know you want him to oppose the Democrats' caving to the Bush administration. This vote is coming soon, so act now!

3. Fisa bill
You are being foolish if you think he is going to vote against this flawed piece of crap known as the FISA bill. Also no one noticed that the funding for renewables was defeated. I think I've cast my last vote, as it seems so futile. After more then 50 years as a labor advocate, I've seen and had many losing battles, but it seems now is the time to just enjoy my retirement. MY senators and my rep. have received many e-mails, but the energy is now gone. It's been good to converse on these pages, however enough is enough. Good luck in the battles ahead.

18. Lets give it one last try!
I'm not going to seriously support democrats this year but the chance for Obama to regain my respect is well worth the call to his campaign.

There just may be some ability to grow a spine in him! Lets try to help it grow!

Lets ask him to Fillibuster and shut down this bill!

8. Call your own Senators, too, while you're at it. I called McCain and Kyl even though
I know they'll do the wrong thing; at least I can say I did it.

Obama isn't the only person in the Senate--just sayin'.

is letting him know your feelings all that much to ask????

He is, I'm sure you realize- only human.

14. we all need feedback- otherwise we wouldn't bother posting at DU
seriously- is it really too much for you to do, to let him know exactly how you feel about his FISA stand, and why???

No one is a mind-reader. And as much as YOU think "there shouldn't be any question" - that is kind of .... narrow-minded.

Give him the benefit of your perspective. If you have as much passion as you clearly do, he needs to hear it. FROM YOU- Americans are very lazy people when it comes to politics. We let the media serve us sound bites, hear snippets of statements and make judgements. And 'assume' that those we elect, will know and do, what WE as individuals want done.-

If you let him know exactly how you feel and why, you will have done what you personally can. That isn't too much for any one to do. If it is, we really don't understand what a democratic country involves.
:hi:
peace~

15. He claims to be a 'liberal'... I'm a LIBERAL. What's to talk about?
Get on with it..... he needs to show some gumption, imho!

Just vote, dam it!!

Am I going to have to go through this every time a critical vote comes up, like this one?

I'm not narrow minded at all. I KNOW where I stand!!

16. I'm a liberal too- and you and I don't see eye->eye
on everything.

Maybe hearing your perspective will help me understand why we don't- But you can't expect me to simply know it-

And if you disagree with a stand he's taking, he isn't going to know you do, unless YOU TELL HIM.

If you honestly believe there is a candidate anywhere in this life that will do everything you want done, then let me know when you are announcing your candidacy-

honestly- I don't disagree that FISA most especially "immunity clad" FISA is not what I believe is best for this country.

I don't agree that Obama should know WHY you- Breeze54- feel as you do, or how vital this is to you, without your feedback.

:hi:

peace~

17. As a liberal, it should be in Obama's bones!! His DNA! His Conscience!!
I really do NOT understand why you and Obama do not GET THAT!!! :wow:

FISA, as it stands, has stripped AMERICANS of their 4th Amendment Rights, per the Constitution!!

Isn't Obama a Constitutional Professor? How can I understand this and he doesn't?!? :wtf:

Are you getting my drift now?!?

12. It bothers me too but I called yesterday and was very forceful about it
We have to hold their feet to the fire. He's in a tough spot but I still expect him to do the right thing. I don't think he realizes how important this issue is to us and how important it is that he not fail this first crucial test for the netroots and all Americans concerned about the constitution who flocked to him from other parties too.

my letters. In fact, I asked him to lead a filibuster(seriously, I very strongly support Obama, sent him money three days ago, but this has me uneasy). Actually, while I understand the political calculations involved (dems don't want to be painted as weak on terror - Christ what bullshit), I think that that is a very serious tacticalmiscalculation on their part.

Take the morality/constitutionality out of it, it a) really ticks off the progressives; b)has borderline libertarians who are (otherwise) sane being pushed to Barr; c) gets independents considering bailing on the election ( the pox on both their houses bit - short-sighted yes, but); d) could have some people who are not really up on things politically simply seeing telecoms doing something illegal and then getting away with it.

edit: typo and took out a very

But more calls might make him rethink, so do not give up til it's over.
