Who was "Agent Mike"??

Can some old timers tell us about the origin and history of "Agent Mike"? I recall that several years ago many DUers were concerned that we were being spied upon. This was before the FISA and telecom revelations. Some of the newer members may be interested in this story?

I actually saw her do this act in person, announcing that her phone was bugged because she always lost her cell connection just when she got to the important part of the conversation. At the time I thought it was bizarre paranoia. Now I know it was just a show she was putting on for my benefit.

3. Bev Harris claimed he was monitoring DU and questioning her.

This was right before or right after the 04 elections. She claimed he had called her, questioned her about posts, and was watching DU.

Needless to say, there are questions now as to the accuracy of those stories, but at the time, some bought it, though even then, some were silently skeptical.

She was trying to drum up DU donations to help her expose the election fraud, for which she claimed she had evidence. Agent Mike was one of the government sources trying to shut her down, and she needed our cash to help her in her struggles. I think that was about the time some people started having questions about her stories.

I started following her threads when she was doing Protalion, if you remember. That was a PR firm to target the media with responses to the Republicans. It coincided with something I had been trying and failing to figure out how to do. When she switched to the BBV stuff, I was skeptical, but kept watching, to see whether she would tip her hand. Eventually, it was tipped.

one of them was named Mike (she'd spoken to him), and she would address him in some of her posts. So, take it with an enormous grain of salt.

7. His roots are in a story

regarding a former DUer who left under unfortunate circumstances. She fancied that she was being spied on (which may or may not have been true at the time). This "Agent's" name was "Mike".

This Agent has become the emblematic of any and all official interest there may be in the posts and posters here at DU. The frequency of his invocations seem to be related to the level of paranoia (justified or not) of the poster.

Agent Mike is an "imaginary" operative from the Gov. that SPIES on DU and the members.
