Michelle Obama sends thank-you to first lady
(Please forgive me if this has already been posted)

Whether you like anything Bush or not, Laura Bush demonstrated some pure class the other day on Good Morning America. Good for her! How refreshing!

Michelle responded with a thank-you note.

Take notice, Cindy McCain, on what it takes to be classy, to be first-lady material, by the actions of both of these women.

On a side note, how did poor Laura end up with such a moron?

1. Laura WAS impressive
I was impressed by her simple, eloquent response to a garbage question. Kudos to Ms. Obama for her recognition too.

3. It takes more effort to be nasty than to be honest.
Yet we see so much nastiness out there!

Some of what we see from the Obamas is the beauty of simplicity, and the simplicity of honesty.

It's very refreshing.

4. How she ended up with him??
She was a 30-something spinster, and he needed a wife.. He had been engaged to a Jewish girl, but the patrician parents probably put the kibosh on that plan...and a politican needs a wife & family..Laura was more acceptable

14. ...and you know this how?

There are plenty of legitimate ways to criticize her.

'then' is about sequencing, 'than' the comparative.

11. I always get the feeling that Laura is not a very happy person.
Personally, I always thought she was much too good to be married to that idiot.

I get the feeling that she's a decent person who married the wrong guy.
It's kinda sad.

12. See, that's decency and class.
Take some notes Cindy McCain! You might learn something, or it is perhaps too late.

13. People rag on Laura a lot, but I've always liked her since
I heard about her first meeting with her mother-in-law. Babs asked "What do you do?"

Laura answered "I read, I smoke."

I liked that answer.

been married to him because she was a Democrat by background.

17. I'm torn.
Do we praise good deeds by the Bush Administration and draw attention to them, thereby ensuring that such will never happen again? Or do we ignore them in the hopes that they'll be repeated?
