Anyone get this one yet? I got it from my father-in-law. Oh joy. :eyes:

4. He's laid groundwork for coming out to the people with the hard truth.
Obama has talked about how it's going to be hard, it's going to take work.

He spoke the truth about the "gas tax holiday" rather than pander, which would have been more politically expedient.

He can't risk coming out before November with a gloomy (though reality-based) projection of coming events, which would be one way to counter this Newsmax trash.

So, I think he'll prepare a major and significant speech after November but before inauguration day telling the American people that there are some hard times ahead, but that we'll persevere.

PS: It's to our benefit that the sub-prime crisis and oil price crisis came DURING Bush's administration and not next Spring.

9. No doubt, and I can bet they will keep using the duct tape
and bailing wire to keep things a-going if they can help it

And lord knows they've tried

2. Don't you think it would be a good idea to send back rebuttles on things like
this back to the person that originaly sent it? Or even use all the addressess that nine times out of ten is shown with such mass emails?

25. I was hoping someone might help me with a rebuttal. But instead I'm being
blasted for trying to keep people informed about the smears out there. Which I personally would rather know about than ignore. That said, as much as my father-in-law is ignorant, I do love him and I'm not going to post his address on a public board. If I can come up with a good rebuttal I will send it to him.

Research who wrote it, where they're coming from and why, or SNOPES. Here it's not necessary.

10. Well, it's Newsmax, and of course they're trying to set Obama up
to take the blame for the coming stock market crash, as Nadin said above.

I just find it incredibly interesting how those beneficial Republican policies take so long to manifest their blessings, while the Democratic policies are capable of wreaking havoc before they're even enacted. For example, the Republicans spent years telling us that the prosperous 90's were the payoff for Reagan's economic policies of a decade earlier, but now the mere threat of an Obama Presidency is enough to strike immediate terror into the heart of the market.

17. Yeah, I know. If the stakes weren't so high, you could fantasize
about them building up this story, getting McCain elected because of it, and then watch the market melt down into a puddle of goo because that's what it's gonna do no matter who's in office.

Actually, if you look at the historical numbers, the market seems to generally do better under Democrats.

The Republicans wreck things, the Dems come to power & fix them, things go OK for a while, and then the clods forget what happened last time & start electing Republicans again. I think the 30-year economic cycle that people like Ravi Batra talk about is due to our failure to transmit politico-economic memory across the generations.

22. Uh, I said in my title that I sent this to Obama's watchdog group. I thought that
made it clear I know this is bullshit. I think that we all need to see that crap that's being sent around, better to know what mud the enemy is throwing. As for freepers who might see this, well if my father-in-law got it, it's been pretty well spread amongst them anyway.

23. Because we need to see the lies being spread.
The freepers are already spreading this bullshit. Obama's campaign wants to know, why shouldn't we also be informed? Ignoring them clearly doesn't make them go away. Look at the swiftboaters.

21. Just like Carter took the blame for the supply shocks of the early 1970s - they want
the next President to take ownership of the poor Bush economy. They know they've lost. They are just trying to spin the narrative of Obama's tenure.
