1. If he is being fair, he has an unusual way of showing it.
I've always thought Brian Lamb has a right wing bias.

3. No - RWer
It's not whaht he says. It what he allows others to say and the topics he chooses to have out there. He doesn't have to say anything. He's a RW fraud.

23. That's "fascist Fridays" please
and no, he isn't "fair."
To give him credit, he came up with a brilliant plan to bring us C-Span, but he uses the forum to spew right-wing talking points,
interview primarily right-wing guests, lend credence and legitimacy to outlets like the Moonie-influenced Wash. Times and the Drudge Report, and hardly EVER has an unabashedly liberal or progressive on without a conservative "babysitter" to shout him down.
If he were fair, he'd read from real liberal publications instead of the New York Times, for ex., which he says OTHER people say is liberal.
This is the New York Times that brought you Whitewater, Wen Ho Lee, and Judith Miller's Iraq war.

5. I think he is fair...because C-Span is fair.
C-Span brings us the best, unfiltered coverage of politics.

Brian Lamb founded C-Span, he has guided & directed it. Therefore, I think you have to see he is fair.

Some days the show tilts towards Republicans, some days Dems.

They show the Independent Party conventions...heck, they even covered Dennis K. when no one else did.

Did you know Lamb was in the Navy during Vietnam, & saw all the lies from the gov't. That is why he founded C-Span...to try & bring the truth to us.

13. In my opinion, he is an Indie
I think he has see it all, heard it all, & if we are cynical, imagine what he must think about this 3-Ring Circus of Politics.

He seems very skeptical about a lot of things.

20. I saw brian lamb before work this morning ..
and was specifically looking for a thread like this..so I could write my opinion.

A caller from New York said to him that before today he would have thought brian would have made a good moderator for the debates(brian's smile immediately disinegrating) and he went on to say why and made some Really good points(ones that we all see, too).

He said to brian.."you use Washington Times and faux news as sources for the right and to balance you should have Eric Alterman or someone like him.

And brian ended the call with.."spoken like a true Kerry supporter, just like we have true bush supporters"..

I don't think he balances out his Friday morning in a "true" way. He trys to act like it..but ..nah. Maybe he doesn't want to have his funding ended or something. When Kerry wins maybe things won't be so tight with him..we will see.

And that Rod Harrelson was cutting short the Dems the other day, too.

19. Ditto
do give him credit for being the main originator of c-span, though. But, yes, he wants a Bush win.

bush cartel is...who can?

I think he has a screw loose for that reason.

8. No
I was watching a few weeks ago when a woman called and started to complain about Bush. Brian snapped at her, saying that he wasn't going to allow calls that personally attacked the candidates.

Within the next half hour, he sat and said nothing while several callers launched into tirades against Kerry.

Where else do far left viewpoints from people like Noam Chomsky or Amy Goodman get time on TV?

Brian Lamb is an American hero.

11. I just heard him debate down (OK, he didn't SHOUT down) a caller
who correctly identified the slant implicit in CSPAN's practice of quoting FOX News and the Wash Times vs the NYTimes.

The NYTimes news is 80-90% journalism, Fox & the WTimes is 80-90% propaganda. The caller suggested that for balance, the Fox & WTimes pieces should be cited vs FAR LEFT sources.

I agree.

14. I have seen him shut off a lot of Dems and allow RWers to rant

on and on. I usually don't watch WJ on Fridays because I know he'll be hosting. Sure, I admire him for starting C-SPAN, but he seems biased when he's hosting.

This morning I happened to watch (hey, it's early and I forgot it was Friday!) and he has amazed me by reading the NYT article about the financial backing of the SMearVets, going over the flow chart and everything. And if he's been unfair to any callers today, I've missed it.

First Tweety, now Brian. . . What's happening?

15. I am listening to Bamford, right now
talking about how the intelligence for the Iraq War was distorted,

& Brian Lamb is giving him this forum.

Will he get 1 hour anywhere else?

I think that is fair.
