Rove: Obama's the Guy at the Country Club Holding a Martini Making Snide Comments About Everyone Else
June 23, 2008 1:36 PM

ABC News' Christianne Klein reports that at a breakfast with Republican insiders at the Capitol Hill Club this morning, former White House senior aide Karl Rove referred to Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, as "coolly arrogant."

"Even if you never met him, you know this guy," Rove said, per Christianne Klein. "He's the guy at the country club with the beautiful date, holding a martini and a cigarette that stands against the wall and makes snide comments about everyone who passes by."

Rove said Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., "needs to come right at him." He referred to the latest Newsweek poll showing Obama with a 15-point lead over McCain as nonsense, though he used a more scatological synonym. Rove said he was heading over to the White House for lunch and a chat with the President, Klein reports.

1. Heh!
You know we ALL believe anything Rove et al would say. What a lame attempt at "cocktail boating." Rove is a nerd an evil nerd.(no offense to us nerds)

10. No kidding.
Have I ever even been to a country club...? (And I'd say I was raised at or slightly above the median of the "middle class" income range). Poor Turd Blossom in the corner, nursing your martini... I feel your pain!

I'm sure all that time rubbing elbows with the "haves and have-mores" taught him a lot about the "regular folks" Republican millionaire candidates supposedly understand so well. (*'s surprise at the prospect of $4/gal gasoline was even more telling than Poppy's wonderment over supermarket checkout scanners...)

14. Last time I was at a country club...
...I was playing in a reggae band.

They wouldn't let us drink at the bar - a waiter eventually smuggled us a couple of beer in the back room.

5. And Rove knows this.............how, exactly?*
Yes, Obama really DOES seem like an elitist snob just like Kerry & Gore (and every other Democrat by extension) are elitist snobs. They all look down on other people so much that they want to help them have better lives for themselves and their children. Of course, this means we simply MUST elect John McCain President in November. We certainly don't want to have any elitist snobs running our country who don't care about the "little guy" now, do we?

HEAVY :sarcasm:

*This from a guy who probably has not made any effort to get to know Obama and who supported/packaged Bush, who explicitly called the "haves" and "have mores" his "base," into "the kind of guy you want to have a beer with."

7. Methinks there might be some good old fashioned GOP "projection" at work with Rove
Unsurprisingly

8. The raw envy is palpable.
What actually did happen to Rove back on the playground, or in middle school, or at the high school dance to make him so nasty and bitter??

He's hopelessly nerdy and uncool, personally. So he either worships men on the right who he sees as cool (Bush in a leather jacket when Rove first met him) or hates them with unquenchable hatred. (Fill in the blank with the name of any liberal male politician who has more cool, better looks and style than poor Karlie Rove could ever dream of. which would include most of them.)

He speaks for all the others who could never be cool in school, who got stomped and kicked by the more popular kids. I guess he's found his niche for the rest of his career. Sad, really.

9. Signs of real progress.
When the hate mongers go after a multi-racial man because they think he's too aristocratic.

Did Rove say this from the porch of his miami beach shotgun shack where he cooks crank to trade for smack?

12. This is a clear case
of projection on Rove's part - attributing to his opponent what his side is all to guilty of.

Look in the mirrow Rove. You are an asshole who has had a whole career that revolved around snide comments and arrogance.

13. In most country clubs
Obama would be the guy in the waiter's suit serving the martini, and KKKarl knows it.

15. Actually no Karl.
He's the guy that can't get in to the Country Club because of his skin color. And Karl's the guy that cheats at golf.
