McCain travels to Colombia, Mexico
Posted June 24, 2008 3:21 PM

by Jill Zuckman

As if the extended presidential campaign weren't enough of a giant road trip, Sen. John McCain will take his show south of the border next week during the Fourth of July Congressional recess.

McCain will travel to Colombia and Mexico with best buddies (and Senators), Lindsey Graham and Joe Lieberman. The trio will meet with the presidents of each country, as well as Cabinet members, foreign ministers and law enforcement officials.

Topics for discussion include the Colombia Free Trade agreement, which is supported by McCain and opposed by Sen. Barack Obama, as well as drug interdiction efforts in both countries.

McCain leaves for Colombia on Tuesday and returns to the U.S. on Thursday in time for the holiday weekend.

6. Talk tough, my ass
Conservatives hate McCain because he wants AMNESTY for illegals. Even Obama's immigration stance is tougher than McCain's (no matter how much McCain lies about his real positions on everything).

4. May I suggest and SL edit? Make sure you put "free trade agreement" in it;

I was just going to post similar.

The "free trade" issue ought to get DUers calling for action; it's a hot issue among them.

8. Does he not realize that the vote takes place in the US?
First he puts his foot in his mouth in Canada, now he'll do the same in Mexico. Meanwhile, his wife is hosting a fundraiser in the UK. Considering how low he is in the polls and the amount of purple and pink states this year, you would think he would spend more time here.

Note to self: send flowers and a thank you card to McCain's advisers on Nov 5th.
