Greatest Obama Quote Ever

I DON'T DO COWERING!!

Greatest Obama Quote Ever
by mobilio316
Wed Jun 25, 2008 at 05:20:32 AM PDT

In the new issue of Rolling Stone, Barack Obama gave perhaps the greatest quote in the history of democratic politics. The greatest sound bite. The best, most reassuring statement about how he will handle this presidential race. It reiterates my belief that this will be no 2004, no Willie Horton type of year. Obama will not be swiftboated.

It was not all about pop culture. When Mr. Wenner asked how Mr. Obama might respond to harsh attacks from Republicans, suggesting that Democrats have "cowered" in the past, Mr. Obama replied, "Yeah, I don’t do cowering."

get you on Chicago's South-side.

20. The "arrogance" tag the right is attempting to
damn Obama with is inaccurate. You're correct that his detractors don't know what's hit them. He's a different breed of cat than the usual Dem. candidate. And as someone born and bred in Illinois, let me tell you, Chicago (and Illinois) politics is not for the meek. He didn't get where he is without nerves of steel. Plus, David Axlerod is one whip-smart guy. The entire Obama team (including the lovely and intelligent Michelle Obama)is not going to silently and valiantly stay above the fray like Kerry attempted to do. At the same time, they're not dirty fighters. They're just smarter. They'll come back at the opposition immediately, with strength and clarity. The GOP is like the varsity football coach we had on my high school team. He ran the same plays year after year. And they worked, because we had a bigger, tougher team. The other team knew what was coming, they just couldn't stop it. Until the year when the same old plays didn't work anymore. The other teams were just as tough. Or tougher. And we lost. People were aghast. What happened? We got out-played.
Welcome to a losing season, GOP.

6. Sassy! The quote captures the candidate's quick response skills well.
The comment was sassy in just the right ways.

It was automatic and properly dismissive of the question.

I want more!

23. You completely missed the irony, so perhaps it is also not surprising that

the adage, "Brevity is the soul of wit", was not appreciated by you, either. That was what made it a great smackdown. The fact that he has already shown he possesses enormous courage further serves to heighten the irony.

18. Good, but
my personal favorite is:

"What I am opposed to is a dumb war. What I am opposed to is a rash war. What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other armchair, weekend warriors in this administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne."--Barack Obama, Oct. 2002

29. I'm an Obama supporter and donor...
But this is the wrong timing for that quote to come out..... It made me immediately think of what I must say is at least a wishy washy attitude toward this latest attempt to put telecoms immunity in the FISA bill. At worst cowering.

I am not saying like some that he needed to single handedly lead the filibuster (it couldn't hurt though but that was his calculation. Kinda looked like cowering. And I couldn't be happier that he is our nominee. I am under no delusion that any human being is going to do what I think is correct a hundred percent of the time. Under any other circumstance, and almost any other time I would love the quote. I like his fight, but right now the shine is a little tarnished on that aspect. He'll recover and be a great President.

with a portrait of Obama on it so there's no mistaking who said it.

That's great. Progressives and liberals everywhere need to adopt that attitude.
I'll have to pick up a copy of that when I go to the store!
