McCain says being the underdog suits him

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/06/25/campaign.wrap/

(CNN) -- Sen. John McCain says he's comfortable being the underdog in the presidential race.

"This is a tough race. We are behind, we are the underdog. That's what I like to be," McCain said at a fundraiser Tuesday night in Newport Beach, California.

A survey out Tuesday suggests that Sen. Barack Obama holds a double-digit lead over McCain among registered voters.

Obama leads McCain 49 percent to 37 percent in a head-to-head matchup, according to the Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll. But when third-party candidates Ralph Nader and Bob Barr are added to the list, Obama's lead over McCain extends to 15 percentage points, 48 percent to 33 percent.

The poll surveyed 1,115 registered voters and was conducted Thursday through Monday. It carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

4. Glad you're happy John
We aim to please. Hopefully, we'll please you even more by keeping you the underdog and making you lose in November. We'll even throw a bye-bye party for you.

6. We're happy you're happy John. Stay right where you are- better yet--
sink lower so you can be the under- underdog. That would be fine too. After all, we want to make sure you are feeling real comfortable.

8. It's about the only chance he's got
Painting himself as the plucky underdog (with the aid of his base in the media) is about the only possibility he has of making people like him. Hopefully, the electorate's bullshit detector hasn't been so desensitized that they'll actually fall for this crock. Sad that I would even consider that a possibility, but the last 8 years have made me profoundly cynical.

10. There's no substitute for experience!
John, you've done an awesome job at losing a Presidential election in the past. I know you can do it again!

11. Underdog?
Yeah right, you're always in the drivers seat when you have the media lock step behind you.

Obama is doing this well in spite of the media's love affair with McCain.
