John McCain: World War III Would Justify DRAFT
WTF......Haven't we had enough of these war-mongering weasels who just can't get enough of playing war using their REAL toy weapons. If McCain were elected, the REAL hidden agenda of bringing back the ' draft ' would become a reality.

" John McCain said last night during a campaign tele-conference that he would bring back a military draft in the United States only in the case of a 'World War III' scenario."

But McCain may be more open to the draft than it seems. During a July 2006 interview on CNN, McCain was asked about the following statement by Newt Gingrich: "We're in the early stages of what I would describes as the Third World War and, frankly, our bureaucracies aren't responding fast enough." Asked whether he agreed, McCain said:

"I do to some extent. I think it's important to recognize that we have terrorist organizations which -- who are dangerous by themselves, are now being supported by radical Islamic governments, i.e., the Iranians, which makes them incredibly more dangerous because they are trained, equipped, motivated and assisted in every way by the Iranians."

Also, as ThinkProgress noted, "Last October, President Bush himself warned of a coming 'World War III' with Iran. 'I've told people that if you're interested in avoiding World War III,' said the President. 'It seems like you ought to be interested in preventing them from have the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon.'"

12. Not passed yet ?- referred to House subcommittee on Military Personnel: 2/23/06
and, after reading the entire bill, there is a lot of "wiggle room" regarding what constitutes military duty. Maybe a more accurate post on my part would have been that "women will not be drafted and put on the front lines of battle...."

14. This Bill is waiting in the weeds until they pull the trigger and set this Bill into motion.
Will Iran be the triggering event to set this Bill into motion? Who knows but the intent is there loud and clear. JMHO.

5. He is either lying or staggeringly stupid.
Iran is the enemy of Al Qaeda. Iran detests AQ and the Taliban.
Iran offered valuable intel on Afghanistan and AQ to the US after 9/11.
This moron (or liar) is conflating the two, just like Cheney did with Hussein.

Like Lucy with the football, how many times will the public (Charlie Brown) fall for these lies?
It's really getting ridiculous.

echoing message to defend our homeland will be deafening. All those who oppose participating with this setup and express descending viewpoints will be tagged and deemed as traitors. Refresh your memories and look back at the outcasts who challenged this administration's march to war reasons after 9ii. They were dealt with quickly and smashed by the Neo-con media network machine. By the time the suppressed evidence surfaced, it was too late and we were already neck-deep into this conflict.

I guess we'll just wait around for another setup against Iran and by that time, we'll be drowning from our own participation of allowing these insane few the right to drive the rest of us over the cliff while the rest of them sit back and watch this war from their perfumed ivory towers.

19. Well, you can forget about going to Canada......I believe they closed off that option with an
agreement of understanding between both countries so that draft dodgers won't be shielded anymore under the ' cruel & unusual punishment ' terms unlike the 60's protested Nam days.

I believe we'll be witness to the most arrogant and testosterone filled, war wagering administration in our history making the Bush years seem like the Eight Years Of Calm before the storm.

Clearly, if there is an school World War going on, then there will be a draft. The key is to ensure we try to keep the world out of such a meltdown with progressive leadership.

Hell, he's talking about stuff that will happen in 2025, when he'll be long gone.

He scares me.

Someone that old might not care about the rest of us with a lot of life still in front of us.

34. Gotta stick my neck out here.
I prefer a draft in the event that any country declares war on us and attacks our borders. When it comes to the defense of our nation, I think it is inappropriate for the Armed Forces to be comprised of only patriotic... and desperate.

However, when it comes to an offensive war, well, on principle, I don't even support one, so I couldn't support a draft for one.

And I'm quite pissed that McCain seems so willing to continue this war. We are NOT in the midst of World War III. Au contraire, we just have a handful of greedy warmongers in the United States who want to get it started.
