Bayh: I'd say yes to VP
Posted: 05:58 AM ET

From CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney
And on Wednesday, Sen. Evan Bayh, a former Hillary Clinton supporter from the potential battleground state of Indiana, also admitted he'd take the job if it is offered.

Check out who's on the VP shortlists

"I don't think it's the kind of thing you say no to….the answer to that is yes," Bayh said in an interview on MSNBC.

"If you care about serving your country, that is the kind of thing that you do," he argued.

But the Indiana Democrat, who considered running for president himself last year, wouldn't go so far as to say he is actually interested in being Obama's No. 2.

"I love my day job. I'm not looking to change," he said.

1. Mr. DLC Excitement...
I'm glad he likes his day job, because I don't think he'll be asked.

4. Bayh....blah
He always struck me as Lincoln Chafee with better hair.

A step or two up from Quayle basically.

2. "Not looking to change"
I don't know if that's supposed to be code language, but whatever it is he can stay where he is.

5. I'd say yes also, and I think my chances of being asked as as good
as yours, Bayh.

6. Really. The same shithead who tried to muscle Indiana Congressmen prior to the Indiana primary.
He had already given a ringing endorsement for Clinton but told the newbies that committing before the primary would be inappropriate.

He wanted to be Hillary's VP. Now, he can piss off.

8. I regret to inform all of you (well, "regret" is too strong of a word...)
Obama will pick someone to the right of him. There's a good chance he/she will be DLC or Third Way (based on the names on the supposed leaked lists), and you're not going to be happy.

10. I'll be happy with whoever he picks.
He's made smart choices all thru the campaign. I don't expect him to suddenly reverse that decision.

14. As much as I hate it, I think you're right. Obama has to pick someone to the right of him
in order to diffuse Repug talking points that he's liberal and radical. Whatever it takes. As long as he doesn't choose Hillary Rodham Clinton, it's alright with me.

9. Move over, you son of a Birch, I'd say yes too.
I'm sure he was responding to a question and it actually is refreshing compared to all the coy "It's Obama's choice, I just want to help the party win" crap you get from most potential candidates.

But still, you gotta wonder how much balance you have with a DLC-friendly moderate from Illinois and a DLC moderate from Indiana on the ticket.

If he's going for a flippable red state, Virginia has more EC votes.
